Chiranjeevi Sarja just can't stop raving about his next film Varadhanayaka, where he plays the younger brother of Sudeep. Chiru, as he is fondly called, is thrilled about two things — one that he gets to play himself in the film and secondly, this is his first film with Sudeep.

Chiranjeevi Sarja in Varadhanayaka."Sudeep and I are close. We're like brothers off screen as well. I was nervous at first but Sudeep made me feel at home on the first day itself. It's different being friends and working together professionally. He asked me to be myself and that made all the difference," Chiru tells Metrolife.

Chiru has no special makeover for this film; but his hair is rather overgrown and he has an unkempt look throughout the movie. "The character in this movie has given me the freedom to be myself. In fact, with this character, I have discovered another side of the actor in me. I relate well to the character because it's a lot like how I was in my college days," he adds.

The movie also stars senior actor Ravichandran. This is also Sameera Reddy's debut in the Kannada film industry. "We wanted to get the best for the movie and didn't want to compromise on anything. We wouldn't just say that we are confident about the movie doing well — we're overconfident about its success," he notes.

About Sameera Reddy, Chiru says that he always had this preconceived notion that actresses from Bollywood have an attitude problem and are reserved. "I was so wrong about Sameera. Being an outsider, she would be on the dot for shooting while we were the ones who would come in late. She's a thorough professional and more than anything, she's fun to be with," shares Chiru.

While he is willing to experiment with different characters, he says he'd like to play a historical role such as Bhakta Prahalada, similar to what Dr Rajkumar had done in 1983. "The character is still remembered for its historical relevance as it exuded energy and gave inspiration like none other," he signs off.
