And the role goes to Saif

There has been a lot of speculation regarding who will play the male lead in Milan Luthria's upcoming project, and it has now been established that the lucky actor is none other than Saif Ali Khan.

The film will be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Milan Luthria himself.

However, the female lead of this film — which is touted to be a romantic entertainer — is yet to be finalised.

Supposedly, the role will go to either Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma or Katrina Kaif.

Top star, tiny role

For some reason, the biggest Bollywood actors seem ever-so-willing to take on the smallest roles in Hollywood. Actors and actresses who boast no end of their so-called 'Hollywood stints' (read: Mallika Sherawat) have become a norm in tinsel town.

The sad truth, however, is that Indian actors are sadly marginalised in Hollywood such as Anil Kapoor as Brij Nath in 'Mission Impossible 4'. It makes one wonder why big Bollywood stars are so eager to play the teeniest of roles in big-budget Hollywood films.

Film critic Rashid Irani calls them "glorified cameos", explaining, "It's the glamour of being part of mainstream Hollywood. Irrfan and Anil are fine actors.

Sadly, the roles they get do not tap their potential." The role remained miniscule for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 'Pink Panther 2' (2009), and it's likely to be the same case for Amitabh Bachchan in Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby'.

'I'm comfortable in my skin'

Bipasha Basu has never been particularly conscious about skin show; she sported bikinis in both Dhoom 2 as well as 'Players' and now, she has posed in a barely-there two-piece for the poster of Raaz 3.

The actress maintains that she saw no reason to hire a body double for the shoot, since she's very comfortable with her toned body.

"I have always been comfortable in my skin and never have been conscious of my body," Bipasha says. According to insiders, producers were reluctant to approach Bipasha for the shoot, given its controversial nature.

They had considered using a body double, and later morphing the actress's face onto the model's body. However, Bipasha insisted on shooting for it herself. "When I learnt about the concept (of the poster), I decided to do it.

I had no qualms. It's my movie and I should be shooting for the poster. I understand that it was required to show the film's theme in the right light, so it was the right decision," she adds.

The poster of the horror film features Bipasha in black hot shorts and a black bikini top. She exudes confidence with her newly toned, washboard stomach.

Raaz 3 is directed by Vikram Bhatt also features Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta. The film's trailer released alongside Jism 2.

Wedding bells for Ranbir?

The promos of Barfi! have been garnering a lot of interest of late — especially a clip which seems to depict a typically Bengali wedding. In the short scene, Ranbir Kapoor is dressed like a Bengali groom, while Priyanka Chopra is attired like a bride.

While Ranbir is dressed in a dhoti, kurta and topor — the fancy headgear worn by grooms in Bengal — Priyanka is wearing a bright red Banarasi sari and a mukut, which is typically worn by brides.

The pair of actors is surrounded by several Chhau dancers — folk artistes from Bengal's Purulia district — and even break into an impromptu jig along with these traditional artistes.

This is Ranbir's first in-film wedding sequence. However, the absence of a priest in the sequence does make one wonder whether the actors actually get married in Barfi!.

New flick on the cards

A play titled Baat - Baat Mein Bigdey Haalaat, which is celebrating its silver jubilee, is going to be made into a comedy movie titled Zindagi Beautifool by director Sameer Iqbal Patel, who has been acting in serials like Ehsaas, Mr and Mrs Sharma Ki Rasoi, 'Hello Friends' and Noor Jehan.

He has also directed plays like Hawa Hawai, '3 Flight Down', 'Life Is Beautifool', and Jo Khaye So Pacchtaye, Jo Na Khaye So Pashtaye.

However, he will not be acting in his new venture. "If I act, then I will not be able to do justice with direction. Known theater actors have been featured in the play, including Rakesh Bedi, Delnaz Kaul, Chaitanya Adib and Brijendra Kala," he says.

Sameer adds that big names are a must for success. "The movie is going to be a situational comedy and families will enjoy it.

Presentation is important and there is a lot of difference between a movie and a play. Plays are shown in a limited area and movies have a wide footprint.

The movie will be entirely shot in Goa. We plan to begin shooting around Deepavali and will release the film in 2013," he states.
