'My acting has improved'

The half-Indian half-German Evelyn Sharma hasn't even completed a year in the industry yet, but just tucked a fifth film contract under her belt .

Evelyn will now also be seen playing a lead role with 'Vicky Donor' star Ayushmann Khurrana, Kunal Roy Kapur of 'Delhi Belly' fame and newcomer Pooja Salvi in Rohan Sippy's next.

"Having shot for four movies, my acting and especially my Hindi diction have improved a lot," says Evelyn, who dubs for herself despite her foreign origins.

Evelyn made her debut with a funky role in the comedy 'From Sydney With Love'. Directed by veteran film-maker Pramod Chakravorty's grandson Prateek Chakravorty, the film's songs and promos have already gained quite a bit of popularity with the youth.

The girl is also working hard towards her first full-length lead in the tentatively-titled 'Class of 2013'. She plays a glamorous dream girl in the movie, which happens to be the directorial debut of Bhushan Kumar's wife Divya Khosla Kumar.

That apart, Evelyn plays a very spiritual girl opposite Prateik Babbar in Issaq and a ditzy girl in Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone starrer.

Competing with Big B

Naseerudin Shah has asked director Sujoy Ghosh to rework the script of his next, Badla, to make his role as meaty as Big B's. He is not interested in the movie otherwise.

A source close to the project reveals that Naseeruddin Shah rejected the script Ghosh presented him, and asked the director to rework the characters in a more balanced equation. "Naseer is happy with the idea of sharing screen space with Amitji.

But he has made it clear that he will be part of Sujoy's dream team only if his role is justified by the script. And that means, equal footage," the source explains.

Big hype about nothing

Fights and reunions happen everywhere — so why do people create such a hype when a celebrity is involved, asks Farah Khan, who has solved differences with her favourite star Shah Rukh Khan.

Farah's husband Shirish Kunder and Shah Rukh had a brawl during the success party of Karan Johar's Agneepath and it became the talk of the town.

However, things have returned to normal between both the families and Farah, who gave two consecutive hits with Shah Rukh — Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om — is once again making a film with the superstar.

"Since we are in the film line, any little thing one does becomes a very big thing. That particular incident became such big news.

But the fact is that we all fight with each other," says Farah. "Forget about friends, we fight with our family members too. They get separated and then reunite. I think if one realises what went wrong and patches up, then there's nothing like it. I just don't understand why people criticise us when we reunite," she adds.

Right now, the choreographer-turned-director-turned actor is looking forward to the release of her film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, which marks her debut as an actress.

Talking about her foray into acting, Farah admits to being initially sceptical about the transition.

"There are many questions that came to my mind before taking up the role but thankfully, I have a range of people who called me and said that I am going to take all the debut awards next year," she smiles.

Farah will be seen romancing Boman Irani in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, which releases August 24.

Has Sonakshi replaced Katrina?

Years ago, Katrina Kaif might have been Akshay Kumar's lucky charm, since the two of them delivered a string of hits together.

But of late, it seems that this position has been scooped up by none other than Sonkashi Sinha.

Her last film with Akshay, Rowdy Rathore, managed to make its way into the elite 100-crore club. And now, the two have another flick lined up — 'Joker'.

But ask Akshay whether Sonakshi has replaced Katrina as his lucky charm and he dismisses this claim, saying, "When the movie works well at the box office, then they become 'lucky charms'. It's a made-up myth.

I don't think there is a lucky or unlucky charm for a movie's success."

Rising from the ashes

Ever since filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor directed Seema Biswas as the dreaded bandit queen Phoolan Devi, way back in 1994, the film became a household name.

Now, the buzz is that a sequel to it is being planned. However, this time around Bobby Bedi will don the director's hat.

While the rest of the cast is still being finalised, rumours suggest that Seema will be retained as the protagonist.

Kapoor's 'Bandit Queen' ended at the point where Phoolan was shown being released from jail after all charges against her were withdrawn.

The sequel is said to focus on her life after she entered politics and till her death in 2001.
