The wedding reception of Nandan and Rohini Nilekani's daughter Jahnavi and her husband Shray Chandra will be held today between 7 pm and 10.30 pm at the Grand and Royal Ballrooms of Leela Palace.
The reservations were made well in advance. The entire first floor of the hotel, comprising nine meeting rooms of differents sizes have been booked.
A separate banquet hall has been reserved only for the family members.
The Nilekani family hasn't compromised on anything and has chosen only the best for their daughter - the food being the most attractive part of the event.
The guest would be welcomed with drinks, like 'Virgin Pina Colada' and Masala Chaas to mention a few.
There's a spread of seven salads such as the Greek salad, potato chaat and roasted vegetarian salad.
The five odd live-cooking counters like the Italian, Thai and pasta will dish out the choicest of combinations that the guests may like to order. The main course comprises food from across the globe. In addition to the appams counters, the main course has vegetable biryani, masala thava fried bassa fish, pindi chole alongside the staple sambar and rasam.
There are in all 13 desserts. There will be a live jalebi with rabri counter; a crepe suzette topped with choice of fruit compote. There would be another counter with assorted fresh fruit tarts, in addition to counters that will serve hot sticky date pudding.
The wedding was held on Monday afternoon to which only few close relatives and friends were invited but for the reception, the who's who of the City are on the guest list. For the wedding, vegetarian Gujarati and South Indian food were served by Taj West End. A guest who didn't want to be named says, "Rohini and I are old Bangaloreans. I've always known Nandan and Rohini to be very simple and warm people. I am more than looking forward to meeting the couple."
