Although Tena Desae started her career with modelling, she always knew that it would be movies that she would head to. She kickstarted her film career in Bollywood with Yeh Faasley and then moved on to Hollywood after bagging a role in 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel', which also stars Dev Patel. This Bangalore belle will be soon be seen in a racy thriller called 'Table No. 21'.
In the City recently, Tena says coming here was like a trip down memory lane. "I have grown up in this City and it feels so nice to see MG Road and Brigade Road lit up for the festive season," she adds.
Her latest movie, 'Table No. 21' revolves around a married couple, who indulge in a game of truth or dare in exchange for money. The film sees Tena in a very bold look. But according to the actress, the role is anything but bold.
"I don't know why people are calling the role 'bold'? Just because I wear a bikini or kiss in the film, doesn't make it a bold role. I play a young married girl, who goes to an island with her husband for her second honeymoon. If one doesn't wear a bikini on a beach, then what should one wear?" she asks.
Tena says while she was a bit nervous, she wanted to do justice to the role and hence, went ahead with it.
"I know it sounds a bit cliched when I say that I want to justify the character but it was like that. The script is very racy, unexpected and relatable and that's what made me sign this movie," she adds.
She admits that she takes her time when it comes to choosing scripts. "I want to be a part of sensible cinema. I want to do movies that have substance and goes with my instinct as well. If the scripts makes me feel good, I go ahead and sign it," she adds. But one wonders being a Bangalore girl, why she never acted in any Kannada or South Indian film. "Ihave been approached for Tamil and Telugu films. But not for a Kannada movie. If there is a role which I can relate to, then why not?" she asks.
