For final-year students in the City, the one thing that is on their minds right now is their future prospects. In Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, the placement process has already begun and students are doing their best to get good jobs.

Sahana Srinivas, one of the BCA students, says, "Our college conducted a 15-day mandatory course, which taught us about the various tricks of clearing a job interview and other rounds, and getting placed. The different aptitude tests that were included as a part of the course served us all well, as they taught us how to deal with different
situations."

Manasa R, the BBM student placement coordinator, talks about her experience with the placement preparations. "With the pre-placement preparations that we had at our college, I'm sure that we're all in a better situation. Our perspectives have changed and we look at things positively now," she says and adds, "we feel more motivated to come to college and we plan to hold aptitude tests on four days in a week — as well as a group discussions every week — to keep us in touch with the techniques to crack the placement process."

"The main focus of the preparation is on the aptitude tests, where there are questions for the verbal, non-verbal, analytical and logical sections. I'm referring to other books that have aptitude tests and attempting tests on the internet," says Shwetha G, student placement coordinator of the BCA batch.

She adds, "We have group discussions as a class and discuss topics as a group after class too, for students who're interested."

Arpitha P, a BBM student, feels that the preparations at college have contributed to the market-related knowledge of the students. "I've started watching the news and going on the internet to learn more. I've also started taking part in more events in the college, to feel more confident and comfortable while interacting with people.

Concentrating on attitude and maintaining a positive outlook is yet another requisite," says Arpitha. Mahalakshmi, another BCA student who's already gone through an aptitude test with a company, says, "I did it for the experience. It's only through practical knowledge that one can acquire skills
to face interviews and group discussions."
