Satyam Shivam Sundaram stars Shashi Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Kanhaiyalal, A K Hangal and David Abraham. Rupa (played by Zeenat Aman) has always had a tough life. Her mother dies giving birth to her and hence, her father considers her an ill omen. The young Rupa burns her face and she is scarred for life. As she grows up, even as she looks beautiful, her scars drive prospective grooms away from her. Then Rajeev arrives from Bombay. He's an engineer and falls in love with Rupa. He takes her father's permission to marry and the wedding takes place despite her protests. When Rajeev finds out that his wife is disfigured, he refuses to have anything to do with her.
