No stunt double for Jacqueline

Jacqueline Fernandez hasn't had much of an opportunity to showcase her acting skills in Bollywood so far — but now, she will be showing her daring side in the upcoming 'Race 2'.

Apparently, the actress has performed a combat sequence in the slick thriller. In the film, Jacqueline will be seen performing a fencing sequence using swords and knives, with Saif Ali Khan in tow.

Fencing is a sport of armed combat using three weapons — foil, epee and saber.
Jacqueline learned and performed the epee and sabre-centred fencing sequence, which combines the use of swords, knives and cavalry weapons.

"We got two experts from Vietnam to teach her. A sequence like this needs style
and grace and you can't hurry it up or it will not be justified.

Jacqueline, on her part, worked hard for two months to learn the moves," says Abbas, one of the directors of the film.

"She wore a fitted costume showing off her curves, with her hair flowing loose. Head gear is worn during fencing — but if we did that, people would have assumed a
stunt double was doing the scene.

So we took cinematic liberty and left her hair loose which looks good with the moves and proves that she's doing
the stunt," he adds.

The actress was gung-ho about performing her stunts and refused to use a body double.

"When Jacqueline was briefed about the scene, she was quite excited and
decided that she wanted to perform the stunt herself," says an insider, adding,
"On the day of the shoot, Peter Haines (action director) and Abbas-Mustan were amazed with how much she had learned.

In addition to the fencing combat, the scene also involved front and back flips which she practiced for extensively and finally gave her take without even any
harness."

Thriller on the cards

Sriram Raghavan says he is working on the script of his next film and will most probably make an announcement by next week. "I am scripting my next film right now.

It is a thriller. I can't disclose anything more about it as of now. We will be making the official announcement by next week or so," Raghavan, whose last venture was Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor-starrer 'Agent Vinod', says.

He hopes to complete the final draft of the script by December, saying, "It is too early to think about the cast as of now. We will be locking the script by December and then we will think about the cast." The yet-to-be-titled movie is slated for a 2013 release.

Raghavan earlier directed 'Johnny Gaddaar' and Ek Haseena Thi.

A memorable evening indeed

Veteran actor Anupam Kher says he and film-maker Ashutosh Gowariker got to spend a great evening with Hollywood star Robert De Niro in Doha, during the ongoing Doha Tribeca Film Festival.

"Ashutosh and I had the most memorable evening with Robert De Niro yesterday in Doha," he tweets.

He features with the international star in 'Silver Linings Playbook'.

The movie was screened at the film festival and Anupam was dressed in formals for his red carpet moment with De Niro.

Gowariker was at the fest as a jury member of the event's feature narrative segment.

Anupam and Gowariker even attended the red carpet ceremony for the screening of Yash Chopra's last directorial — Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

"Missed Yash ji," posts the actor, who had a cameo in the film.

Disappointed with her new look

Former Miss India-turned-actress Gul Panag decided to experiment with her locks and cut them herself — but she is now disappointed with her new look.

"Self haircut is looking horrible. Can't wait for two months to pass so it grows a bit and looks respectable," tweets Gul.

In her initial days in showbiz, Gul sported shoulder-length hair, but then she cut it short.

Now, perhaps, she attempted an even shorted cut and clearly isn't too impressed with her experiment.

Prabhu goes the MJ way!

Prabhu Deva has often been pegged as the Michael Jackson of India. And apparently, this comparison will be highlighted in the film 'ABCD — Any Body Can Dance'.

Prabhu Deva will pay tribute to Michael Jackson by doing MJ's signature moves in a song in the film, in his style. Director Remo — who is a huge MJ fan and never misses a chance to say so — couldn't have been happier.

What's more, the choreographer-turned-director will also feature in the song with Prabhu Deva. Remo says, "Yes, it is true that we have thought about this.

We want to execute it when we shoot our next song, where Prabhu features with me. Everyone knows how deeply I respect Michael Jackson and when I'm doing a film on dancing, it is impossible to not have something on him."

Prabhu will also groove with Madhuri Dixit again for a song.

The song will be shot in multiple locations across Mumbai — like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Dharavi among others — essentially capturing the essence of the city's spirit. This Hinglish song will be a high-energy dance number and will have freestyle
moves choreographed by Remo.

'ABCD' releases in February. The film will be shot in 3D and stars winners from a reality dance show, who will be playing central roles. Lauren Gottlieb, winner of the popular US television talent show 'So You Think You Can Dance', will also feature in the film.
