Set to join the crew

Director Apoorva Lakhia has wrapped up the first schedule of the remake of Zanjeer with the film's lead actor Ram Charan Teja and says that Priyanka Chopra will join the crew in
September.

"We have shot 40 per cent of the film in Mumbai with the other star cast. The film should be done by November end and is scheduled for a next-year release," says Lakhia, adding, "Priyanka will join the crew by September."

The actress will step into Jaya Bachchan's role in the film and there were reports that Amitabh Bachchan, who played the lead role in the original — which, in fact, won him the title of 'Angry Young Man' — will do a cameo in it.

When asked whether he has already shot with Big B, Lakhia refused to comment.
The remake of Zanjeer is being produced by Amit Mehra, son of late film-maker Prakash Mehra who had directed and produced the original movie.

Zanjeer, which was released in 1973, is credited with turning Amitabh into a superstar.

The man behind the wheel

Bol Bachchan, which has been directed by Rohit Shetty — whose name is synonymous with action-packed masala blockbusters — has been creating ripples in the film industry even before its release.

Shetty is known to be a perfectionist and ensures that each shot in his action sequences, which include cars and buses, is perfectly executed. In fact, on several occasions in his previous movies, one has seen the director himself driving the vehicles which are part of stunt scenes — for instance, Kareena Kapoor's dramatic entry shot in Golmaal 3, where she is seen standing on the bonnet of a red sports car.

This time around in Bol Bachchan, the director will be seen driving a bus which has Abhishek Bachchan, Prachi Desai and Krushna along with many other actors seated on the roof.

Says a source from his unit, "Rohit always showcases some larger-than-life and high-power sequences but at the same time, ensures that the stunts are performed keeping in mind the actor's comfort level and the safety of the unit. Whenever he feels that the stunt is even slightly dangerous, he takes charge."

So if you see this daredevil director seated in a car or bus that's doing some mean stunts, don't be surprised! Bol Bachchan releases on July 6.

Salman turns 'item boy'

Actor Salman Khan, who has agreed to groove to an item song for his friend Ajay Devgan in his next film Son Of Sardaar, will shoot for the number by the end of July.

"We shot for one scene with Salman recently. But he will be doing the song by the end of July," the film's director, Ashwini Dheer says. He doesn't reveal much about the song, but of the film shooting, he says, "Presently, we are shooting in Mumbai and we have almost finished some portion of the shooting in Patiala." Son Of Sardaar features Ajay with Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla, Mukul Dev and Vindu Dara Singh.

Temple wedding for Esha

Esha Deol, the daughter of veteran actors Hema Malini and Dharmendra, will tie the knot with her fiance Bharat Takhtani on June 29 at a temple. Esha has been dating Bandra-based businessman Bharat Takhtani for quite a while. The ring ceremony, which took place at Hema's bungalow in Juhu on February 12, was a private affair and was attended only by close family members and some friends. "We are very happy and excited. The preparations have started. The wedding will take place on June 29 at a temple — we wanted to have the wedding in a temple," Hema Malini says. The wedding is likely to be a private affair, while the reception will take place on June 30 at a suburban five-star hotel. "The reception will take place on June 30 at a five-star hotel. We just want best wishes and love from everyone," adds Hema. A lot of people from the film industry and politics are expected to grace the wedding reception. Esha decided to settle down post her last
film, Tell Me O Kkhuda.

A changed person

Jism 2 has been the centre of attention for many reasons — not least because it stars Sunny Leone —but the shooting for the film has been wrapped up and its co-producer, Dino Morea, seems to have learnt a lot from the experience — despite admitting that it was very tiring. In fact, he says that he returned from the sets of the movie as an enriched person.
"Working on Jism 2 as a co-producer with Pooja Bhatt has taught me so much about film-making, an enriching experience, gruelling but worth it (sic)," Morea tweeted. Starring Sunny Leone, Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh, the movie is a sequel to 2003 erotic thriller Jism, which starred John Abraham and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. Directed by Pooja Bhatt, Jism 2 is scheduled to release on August 3.
