Full MBA scholarship for one Indian student

Salford Business School, situated in the United Kingdom, is offering a fully-funded scholarship seat for its MBA programme to one Indian student. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is designed to help managers to develop the business skills and personal attributes needed to become a great leader. The Salford MBA is accredited by AMBA, the Association of MBAs, worldwide and is delivered at the University of Salford's facility at MediaCity-UK (http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/), home to the BBC and many other businesses from the digital, creative and media industries.

The MBA Global Leadership Scholarship competition is offering one resident of India opportunity to pursue a full-time course with three possible start dates in 2012 and 2013. The scholarship is worth £ 16,120. All additional costs including travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses have to be funded by the student.

Entrants must have a first class honours degree, three years of work experience and complete the standard Salford MBA entry form. Candidates also have to submit a 500-word essay on the following topic: 'What does leadership mean to you and how can a Salford MBA help you contribute to global leadership?'

A panel of judges, including the dean, will select the winning entrant. The closing date for entries is June 22, 2012.

This initiative is being spearheaded jointly by Queen's College and Salford Business School as part of a potential partnership to offer specialised programmes. E-newsletter from the American Library

US Consul-General, Jennifer McIntyre, launched the new bimonthly e-Newsletter from the American library at the Consulate on May 31, 2012. She said, "I am pleased to present our new service, an e-newsletter from the American Library in Chennai. In each issue, we will provide updates on new books, articles, and documentaries, as well as list additions to our ever expanding electronic collection of books and articles," McIntyre said.

"I want to highlight another new service offered by the library — remote access to eLibraryUSA. Through this service, members can access our full database of articles from their school, business or home. The Library is gearing up to introduce Kindle e-readers to our patrons," she noted.

The American library in Chennai provides accurate and up-to-date information on contemporary American government policies, institutions, society, culture and values, literature, history, international relations, US economy and global issues. The space serves people from all walks of life including students, teachers, researchers, government officials, politicians, media representatives, businessmen and the general public residing in South India.

Resources at the library include over 14,000 volumes of books focusing on American studies and related areas; special collections on business management, computers, English as second language and books for children and young adults; 100 print periodicals ranging from scholarly to general interest category; access to more than 30,000 full-text journals and 20,000 other electronic documents; government documents, think tank reports, and US newspapers.

In addition, the American library offers free access to personal computers and internet for members; reference service in person, by mail, email, telephone and fax; research assistance by professional librarians; research and reference support for programmes for schools, colleges and other institutions; and individual and group orientations and on-site workshops at schools, colleges and other institutions.
