'Abstraction'
'Abstraction', an exhibition of abstracts (acrylic and mixed media on canvas) by Amrish
Vijay Malvankar will be on display at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Gallery 1 and 2, Kumara Krupa Road, till September 21. The timing is 11 am to 6 pm.
'Soorya' Festival
As part of the Soorya Festival, Aparna Ramaswamy will present a bharatanatyam recital at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on September 15 at 6.15 pm. At 7 pm, Padma Subramaniam and Nrithyodaya artistes will present a Bharata Nrityam recital.
On September 16, 6.30 pm, Priyadarshini Govind will also perform bharatanatyam at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Kalakshithi School of Fine Arts is presenting Bharathanatya Marga, in memory of Rukmini Devi Arundale, on September
15, 5.30 pm at JSS Mahavidyapeetha Auditorium, Shivarathreeswara Centre, JSS Auditorium, I Main, 8th Block, Jayanagar. The programme will showcase a variety of compositions of Rukmini Devi performed by senior students of Kalakshiti.
In concert
Nadasurabhi Cultural Association, in association with Suswaralaya College of Music Jayanagar, will be holding a concert on September 16, 4.15 pm at The Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, near Police Station, Koramangala. A grand vocal recital will be presented by S K Anil Murthy. He will be accompanied by Mathur R Srinidhi, K U Jayachandra Rao and Anirudh Bhat.
On canvas
Magnitude Gallery is presenting, Navrang, a pot-pourri of Indian festivals on canvas. The collection comprises original paintings that depicts festivals like Sankranthi, Dussera, Deepawali, Christmas, Ramzan and many more on acrylic and mixed media. The artists who have contributed to this collection are Vanil, Siddhu, Manjula and team. The venue is Magnitude Gallery, No. 140/13, 27th Cross, 3rd Block, Jayanagar.
Creative works
Gallery Time and Space is exhibiting the paintings of Yuriko Lochan, an artist who has adapted the traditional Japanese genre to suit her contemporary sensibility in the City. The paintings will be on view at Gallery Time and Space, 55 Lavelle Road till September 22, 11 am to 7 pm.
Bharatanatyam
Lakshmi Ramesh is presenting her bharatanatyam arangetram on
September 16, 6 pm at JSS Auditorium, 1st Main Road, 38th Cross, Jayanagar 8th Block. Lakshmi is the disciple of Sumitra Nitin. N Murali, president, The Music Academy Madras, and Sangita Kala Acharya guru Radha will be the chief guests on the
occasion.
Folk ensemble
As part of 'BIAF Celebrates Harmony Through Arts', on September 15, 6.30 pm, at Cosmopolitan Club, Jayanagar, a folk rhythm ensemble by troupes from Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Assam, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur and Karnataka will be presented.
'Imphal Dance' by Pung Cholam and Dhol Cholam will be conducted on the same day. Apart from that, Sanjay Shantaram of Shivapriya Dance Ensemble will also present a recital and Meernanda Barthakur will showcase a sattriya dance.
A folk festival will be held at Freedom Park, Sheshadri Road on September 16, 6.30 pm. For details, call 7760498077.
'Bechara Maara...'
Mashaal Theatre Group will present Bechara Maara Gaya on September 16, 5 pm and 8 pm, at Alliance Francaise.
It is adapted from Dario Fo's 'Accidental Death of an Anarchist'.
The play is a hilarious satire and is primarily about police corruption.
