The students of Bishop Cotton Boys' School recently celebrated their Commerce fest 'Resurgence-2012'.

More than 35 schools participated in the fest, which had various competitions related to commerce and business management.

It was organised jointly by class 12 students from arts, science and commerce. The competitions were held at the auditorium, school hall, K G Hall, GU Pope Block etc. The events included 'Questionnaire', 'Dalal Street', 'Bail-out', 'Meltdown', 'Innovation', 'Managerio', 'Impex' and 'Area-51'.

Bangalore International School, Christ College, Jain College, NPS etc took part in the fest. The fest had a mix of all kinds of competitions — while some were based on general awareness and intellect of the students, others were fun-filled. 'Find X' was something similar to a treasure hunt where the students had to find the treasure which was hidden in some part of the school.

"'Area 51' was similar to the popular board game 'Monopoly' and the students had to buy and sell property, the school buildings were used as properties. We had another event 'Impex', which was all about import and export.

'Managerio' was something similar to the 'Best Manager'. We had a very good response and many colleges participated in the competition,'' says Kingshuk, a science student. He adds that this was the fourth edition of the fest and the students wanted to take it to a bigger level next year.

Sonny, a humanities student, says that it was the combined effort of all the three branches and all of them put in equal effort in making the fest a success. "The kind of exposure we got was really good. It helped us in testing our leadership and organising skills," adds Sonny.

The students faced many challenges and obstacles while organising the fest. Getting sponsorship was the most difficult part of the fest. "The toughest challenge was getting sponsorship and participant packages. The participation was good and we were confident that the schools would be interested in the fest," says Emmanuel, student commerce secretary.

The students turned nostalgic as this was their last year in school. They says these kinds of events helps them in getting ready for their years in college. "Since this is our last year in college, we wanted to make the fest better than last year and we feel that our
efforts have paid off," sums up Emmanuel.
