She's back with a bang

Aishwarya Rai BachchanAishwarya Rai Bachchan is back — and how. After spending months away from the glare of the public eye, Aishwarya has once more faced the camera. However, it isn't for a full-length movie; the former Miss World has shot a print advertisement and television campaign for a jewelery brand across various locations in Mumbai.

This is the first shoot she has done in about a year, and the set was brimming with excitement: right from the spot boys to the light men and technicians, who all congratulated her on the birth of little Aradhya.

Another nostalgic moment occurred when she shot with ace cameraman Kiran Deohans — when she came back to business after her engagement and marriage, it was Kiran who shot her. Commenting on this, Kiran Deohans says, "I have got the pleasure of working with Aishwarya on Jodhaa Akbar. Coming back post delivery and shooting for this commercial, she's still the same. Even after becoming a mother, she's a true professional and has the same passion when it comes to her work. I have seen her working here then and now. She is bang on since her Jodhaa Akbar days. As a DOP, it's always a delight working with her. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever worked with. She always had that sparkling glow on her face before and even after her pregnancy. Even after getting an okay take in one go, she will always give more options for the same
take — which shows how passionate she is when it comes to her work".

Aishwarya was also shooting again with action director Allan Amin, with whom she has shot extensively and who apparently calls her a 'harness queen'. He adds, "She is the best on the harness — the only who has jumped from one thousand feet, in Dhoom 2 live, with no special effects and no doubles, in Indian cinema. Even in Hollywood, no actress has ever done this".

Despite all the criticism she has faced for her post-baby fat, everyone on the set exclaimed over Aishwarya's beauty.

Shrikumar, who shot the commercial, recalls, "This is the first time that I am shooting an ad with Aishwarya. What impressed me about her was her passion for detailing. There were a few underwater shots as well. For me, it has been the most memorable experience shooting with her."

Tinsel town supports Vijender

Indian boxer Vijender Singh got knocked out of the London Olympics quarterfinals, but Bollywood celebrities like megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Siddharth have congratulated him for giving his opponent a tough fight.

The celebrities took to a micro-blogging site after Vijender lost 13-17 to Uzbek Abbos Atoev, at the ExCel Arena in London.

Amitabh tweeted, "Well fought Vijender! You have done the country and all of us proud."
Rannvijay Singh, on the other hand, posted: "We are very proud of you champ,
you fought well Vijender." Siddharth added on the micro-blogging site:

"Vijender Singh stops just short of a Beijing glory repeat…close fight! Tragically close. Well tried champion…you already do us all proud! (sic)".

Vijender, 26, had bagged a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Bitterness among ex-flames

Bad blood between exes can really have a negative impact: and this is most true in the case of John Abraham and his ex-flame Bipasha Basu. John dated Bipasha for several years before the two parted ways, after which he has allegedly begun to date a banker named Priya Runchal. But it's evident there's still some tension between him and Bipasha.

Showing his clout, the actor has reportedly asked the makers of 'Shootout At Wadala' to drop his former flame Bipasha from the film. It seems that recent interviews where Bips caustically hinted at infidelity during her nine-year relationship with John has not gone down well with the actor.

Preparing for the best

Many actors in tinsel town have started taking acting workshops before their films go on the floors. Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush have recently joined the bandwagon — they are going through a month of intense training and workshops to prepare for their roles in their upcoming film Ranjhana. Actor Shahid Kapoor is attending language classes to prep up for his upcoming film. Apparently, Farhan Akhtar and Ranbir Kapoor too underwent workshops to prepare for their roles in their upcoming films. Similarly, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra also went through rigorous workshops for Ishaqzaade. While industry observers point out that having such workshops have been around, they agree that there's been a definite rise in the number of film-makers insisting their actors undergo workshops before shooting for films.

Work takes a toll on Boman

Boman Irani has been in the industry for many years not, but apparently, extensive promotional activities still take a toll on him — to the extent that he has described his experience of promoting his forthcoming film, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, as turning him into a lunatic.

"We have been promoting the movie like lunatics... now if you all confirm once and
for all, we can tell the producers to spare us the trouble (sic)," tweeted
Boman.

Boman and his co-star Farah Khan have been making media appearances, attending events as well as shooting for special episodes of reality shows to generate a buzz for the movie, which is releasing on August 24.
