Kangana goes behind the camera
Following the footsteps of Ranbir Kapoor, who apparently assisted in the making of a promotional video for Barfi!, Kangana Ranaut too has opted to get behind the camera.
Apparently, the actress's directorial debut is a short film, which has been written in collaboration with an Australian writer.
The untitled film has been shot in Los Angeles with an all-American cast and crew. It focusses on a four-year-old boy and his dog.
Kangana said that the decision to direct was well thought out and came to light after she met with Hollywood biggies during a recent trip to LA. "Things just fell into place," she explains.
To prepare herself, she attended plenty of workshops and delved a bit into child psychology to connect with the character of the kid in the film.
She reveals, "It took six months of thorough groundwork. I was advised not to work with kids and animals, but my script demanded it. Kaden (the boy) is very little. We had to place hidden cameras, play games, and pretend to be aliens and trees in order to get him in the frame. But it was fun, he is adorable. The dog was well-trained and not difficult to work with."
The actress further adds, "We intend to send the film for international festivals but as of now, I am concentrating on finishing the editing and visual effects. That's the only thing on my mind before I leave for Paris for my next acting schedule."
When asked, what she loved more — acting or directing — she replies, "This is like asking me to choose between apples and oranges. I love them both in a unique way. But working with an international cast and crew was an amazing experience."
Back to their roots
Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit recently took her family for a short trip to her ancestral place Kokun in Maharashtra.
"Took the family on a short trip out of Mumbai to coastal Maharashtra. It is so green and beautiful here. Our forefathers are from this area," Madhuri tweeted. "Many of my relatives still live in Kokun.
It is amazing here. Maharastra is so rich with culture and sights to see!" she further posted. Madhuri had shifted to Denver, Chicago after her wedding to doctor Sriram Nene in 1999. She is now back in Mumbai for good with her husband and two kids — Arin and Raayan.
Jackpot for Omi
Omi Vaidya seems to be tasting success after success. Recently, the Indian-American actor — who had the audience rolling with laughter with his comic performance in '3 Idiots' — created a documentary which is called 'Big in Bollywood'.
The documentary was subsequently selected as the best foreign film at the recently-concluded Las Vegas Film Festival.
"My documentary 'Big in Bollywood' wins Best Foreign Film at the Las Vegas Film Festival. Jackpot," Omi, 27, tweeted recently.
The documentary chronicles Omi's struggling days as an actor in Los Angeles and how he landed his dream role in the Aamir Khan-blockbuster '3 Idiots'.
Different dreams for the twins
Nick Cannon has been in the entertainment industry for years now, and how gorgeous wife Mariah Carey has carved a niche for herself as a pop singer.
But surprisingly, the couple don't have the same dreams for their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, who are barely a year old. While they do want to encourage their children to pursue their dreams, the celebrity couple also want the twins to realise there are plenty of options that have nothing to do with the entertainment industry.
In fact, Nick would much rather that his little children take up a professional that is more 'noble' — such as becoming surgeons, or even college professors.
The kids have a long way to go before they have to make any such career-related decision. But only time will tell whether the will follow in daddy's footsteps or not.
Still looking for love
Actress Mallika Sherawat reveals she is single because she is still searching for true love. "Love is the most important thing for me. I haven't got married yet because I am still waiting for it (love)," Mallika says. The 35-year-old spoke on the sidelines of the launch of the first look of her film Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli (KLPD).
Her co-star in the film, Vivek Oberoi, also gives prime importance to love. "Money is okay, it comes and goes. But only the lucky ones find love," says the 35-year-old actor, who got married in 2010. Talking about the film's story, Vivek adds, "It's a story of one night in Delhi. The protagonist, Lucky Duggal, is in search of kismat (luck), love and paisa (money). He gets all that in Delhi, then loses it and gets it back again."
The movie is directed by Sanjay Khanduri.
