The aroma of fresh meat, good company and a turf of green grass, what else would a dog desire on a lazy Sunday afternoon? All that and more was provided at the canine Sunday brunch organised by Vivanta by Taj.
Apart from a play area kept exclusively for these adorable animals, there was also a lavish spread arranged for them. The buffet had some of the dogs' favourite dishes like dog biscuits to start with and chicken wings, steamed rice, meat porridge and chicken stew.
Served in colourful dog bowls, man's best friends were clearly having a ball. Lucky, a three-month-old Labrador puppy, was enjoying the day thoroughly as he rolled on the grass and scraped the turf till he saw some other pups his size. "We loved the concept and since we never get an opportunity to take Lucky out at all, we thought we should definitely take him out. He is enjoying the outing," said Shefali, who had come with her entire family to enjoy the Sunday brunch.
"I really wish the City had more such pet-friendly places. The food has a lot of variety and we also got a special bling leash for him, which has his name on it. So now, Lucky is a party animal," she said.
Great Danes, Pugs, Bull Mastiffs, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Dachshund, Dalmatian, Poodles, you name it and they were there. The who's who of the dog community had made it to the grand canine lunch. The food was prepared with precision and a canine expert designed the special menu for the dogs.
"It is a unique concept and looking at the response, we do want to extend it as well. The food was prepared in such a way that it suits the dogs. We have a vegetarian as well as a non-vegetarian platter. It is a myth that dogs like only bones, they like vegetables too. The whole concept is to let the dogs have a bit of fun and let their hair down.
The play area for the dogs and food area for the families have been separated so that the pets can have their bit of fun," adds Vivek Sharma, the F&B manager of Vivanta by Taj.
"We have always taken our dog out and he is very used to it. We even holiday along with our dog. Buddy was not a very friendly dog initially, but now he is a very friendly canine who loves people," informed Tanya.
