'Jai Bhim Comrade'
The Law and Society Committee (LawSoc), Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, National Law School of India University are presenting the documentary Jai Bhim Comrade on July 29, 10 am to 4 pm, at Suchitra, B V Karanth Road, Banashankari 2nd Stage. It is written and directed by Anand Patwardhan. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Anand Patwardhan, V S Sreedhara and Indudhara Honnapura. The film, shot over 14 years, follows the music of protest of Maharashtra's dalits.
Classical delight
Ragha Vaibhavam, a special Carnatic music programme, will be held at Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira on July 29. Directed by Radha Bhaskar, the programme will commence from 5.30 pm. Providing vocal support to Radha is K P Nandini and Aishwarya Shankar. They will be accompanied on violin by A Venkatasubramaniam and on mridangam by Mudra Bhaskar.
'Barkha Ritu'
Banyan Tree will present the monsoon music festival, Barkha Ritu, on July 28, 6.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. It will feature Venkatesh Kumar (vocal) and Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute).
The evening will have an interesting mix of traditional monsoon ragas and instrumental fusion mixes for all age groups.

Vaidya Kala Ranga is celebrating 'Doctors' Day' on July 29 at the Indian Institute of World Culture, B P Wadia Road, Basavanagudi. On the occasion, there will be a Carnatic classical vocal recital by Sheshaprasad, accompanied on violin by Sangeetha and on mridangam by Anand. A violin solo will also be presented by Sangeetha.

The NGMA Bengaluru, in association with the Hri Institute, is holding a talk by South Asian artists on 'Sanctuary and Defiance: Contemporary Art from Pakistan' by Salima Hashmi (Pakistan) and on 'My journey as a witness: An insight into the evolution of contemporary photography' by Shahidul Alam (Bangladesh) at the NGMA Auditorium, Palace Road on July 28, 5 pm.

Vasp, a youth theatre group, will stage Nam Thim Thana on July 29, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.
Nam Thim Thana is a collage of six short plays, three of them written by BeeChi and the rest taken from BeeChi Bullets, a book written by Rangayana teachers after an analysis of BeeChi's writings.

As part of the 'Dance DISCourse' on July 28, 6.30 pm, 'The Great Art of Mysore Bharatanatyam' will be presented by Natyavisharada Dasappa Keshava and his daughter Sumita Keshava. The venue is Alliance Française. The Mysore school of bharatanatyam is an important rajnartaki form, that partook of devadasi traditions too. One of the finest exponents of the form, Dasappa Keshava will perform and talk about the nuances of the style.
Expressions of life
'Confluence', the visual art exhibition by Sandhya K Sirsi showcasing the expressions of life, will be on at Tangerine, Indiranagar till August 12. The exhibition is an interpretation in art from the experiences faced or observed by Sandhya. Sandhya is a self-taught artist, who lives and works in Bangalore intrinsically learning and practising visual arts in various forms, types and mediums. Her paintings are based on the theme evolution, which is evident from her minimalist approach and portrayal of colours.

As part of Ananya Nrithyollasa 2, bharatanatyam recitals by Ragashree Komandur Yilayavilli, B N Ananth and Harini Srikanth will be held on July 29, 5.30 pm at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram.
