With a focus on innovation, this conference will provide all delegates, from both academics and industry, an opportunity to network, share ideas and incorporate new knowledge.

About Technology Management

Modern technology is central for the creation of wealth through business expansion leading to economic development.

This is visible through the fast-paced technology induced economic growth experienced by most countries such as India, China, Brazil, South Korea, etc. Increasing individual scientific contributions, nurturing entrepreneurial talent, promoting innovative competence, strategically prioritising and investing in technology and enhancing national economic wealth are some of the important goals of technology management.

This subject has emerged as a strategic and knowledge domain of interest to academicians, practitioners and policy makers across the globe. Technology Management has also evolved into an inter-disciplinary concern which requires national and international collaborations and exchange of insights.

Technology Management requires a macro and a micro perspective to understand its intricacies. It has to be understood at the national level, state level, from an educational perspective and from the corporate viewpoint. The agenda of Technology Management is to build an ecosystem that will nurture technology and innovation.

Issues like product positioning, product development and investments need to be explored in terms of the risk, uncertainty, complexity and returns. It is important to understand that innovation activities need to be sustained.

Most innovations happen at the individual level or the inventors' level. Specifically, inventors need to be provided with facilities and financial support. This is the first step towards innovation building. The next step includes providing freedom and autonomy to mobilise, collaborate, explore and demonstrate the invented ideas. The critical step, however, is to provide the information to help them deliver the required innovation products and technology for society at large.

The 'pull' information of the common people must be articulated and conveyed to the inventors so that they get excited about what is needed and what is relevant. The 'elite' approach to innovation must move towards open and inclusive innovation.

There is a need for a platform that will provide an opening up of that dialogue between the academic researcher, experts from the field of valuation, investors and the scientific community at large. An understanding of innovation and 'wow' technology should provide the desired understanding with respect to building bridges and bringing the minds together.
