'I couldn't have looked lean'
Kareena Kapoor might have once been famed for her size-zero figure. But the actress was criticised quite a bit for her weight gain in Fevicol Se, an item number that she did for Salman Khan's Dabangg 2.
Now, the actress has decided to shed the kilos once again — this time, for Karan Johar's next film.
Kareena will be seen in a much leaner avatar for Karan's home production, Gori Tere Pyar Mein. She is paired opposite Imran Khan in the film. The duo would be seen together for the second time after Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
Punit Malhotra, of 'I Hate Luv Storys' fame, will be helming the project and it will go on floors in March this year.
"Punit wants me to look stylishly different in his film. Besides, there are five songs in the film, which require a lot of dancing. I will still be voluptuous, but the difference will be that
my appearance will be more toned and fit. I need to acquire such a look for my dance numbers," Kareena says, explaining why she's decided to lose weight.
Clearly, there's a lot of emphasis on the song-and-dance routines of this
movie. Kareena and Imran are going to rehearse their dance moves for around
20 days before shooting the songs. In fact, Kareena has already started working on her new look.
"I used to do a lot of power yoga but have started Iyengar yoga now, which is more
difficult. I have already done two sessions and I am feeling absolutely amazing," she shares.
Responding to the criticism regarding her weight gain in Fevicol Se, she says that she needed to look a little plump to suit the setting of the song.
"It was the requirement of the song. I couldn't have looked lean and toned as
I was in Halkat Jawani (her item song in 'Heroine') because the song Fevicol Se is a desi number," she explains.
'I don't want to stick to a genre'
Khiladi 786 director Ashish R Mohan, who is making a biopic on notorious gangster Babloo Srivastava, says he will try to keep it real and entertaining as expectations have soared after hisdebut film. Srivastava was a former aide of mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.
"This is my second film and considering that Khiladi 786 did well, there are lots
of expectations from me. So, I am in no hurry to finalise things. The film is of a
different stature. It is not easy to handle a subject of this nature. One has to stick
to realism and keep it entertaining at the same time. This time, it is difficult," Ashish
admits. "I am still writing the script. I think it would take a couple of months — maybe even five to six months — to finish the scripting. I want to do full justice to this film, so I will take my own time," he adds.
The film will chronicle the life of Srivastava on the big screen, but with additional doses of drama and action. "I would say that it is a semi-biopic. Since it's a film, we will have to make it larger than life," Ashish explains.
With this gangster flick, Ashish is deliberately moving towards serious stuff.
"As a director, I don't want to stick to a particular genre. I want to try out different things. It was a conscious decision to do a serious film after a comedy. For instance, Yash Chopra not only made romantic films but action and drama as well. I too want to make different kinds of films and offer the audience a variety," Ashish observes.
"Babloo feels Abhishek Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi would be the best ones to portray him on screen. But we haven't met any of the actors yet. Casting would depend on the script," the film-maker says.
An outlet for a passion
Vidyut Jamwal, of 'Force' fame, loves action. An expert in martial arts, the actor has pulled together a team of eight men who share the same passion for action.
According to sources, Vidyut trains with these men for five to six hours a day. Interestingly, they do not belong to any martial arts academy — they are bus conductors, store keepers and others from different walks of life.
"Vidyut, unlike others, trains with a group of martial artistes and fitness enthusiasts, who believe in the craft beyond just a means of fitness. He has been able to put together a team of eight men, who may not fit into the traditional definition of what you imagine as the team of an actor," a source says.
Vidyut's eye for identifying these talents comes from his background — he was in an ashram in Kerala, training in martial arts when he was younger. "It took him a while before he managed to put together his dream team, which today comprises of eight boys," the source adds.
Vidyut will soon be seen in an action flick called 'Commando - The War Within', which is being helmed by Dilip Ghosh.
