French feast

'Bonjour India', the colourful India-France cultural exchange, is being held in the City. As part of it, PVR Cinemas is holding a 'French Film Festival' by showcasing a series of French films at PVR, Koramangala, for movie aficionados. The multiplex will be running six French films (with English subtitles) from February 15 to 17. The films are Populaire, 'In the House', Zarafa, 'Hand in Hand', 'The Dandelions' and 'Camille Rewinds' etc.

Language course

The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is offering a combined weekday evening and weekend German language courses from February 17 at their centre on Cunningham Road. These courses are designed according to the 'Common European Framework of Reference for Languages'.

The courses are conducted in a learner-friendly ambience by highly qualified, trained teachers using the latest interactive teaching methods and state-of-the-art equipment. Besides the general language courses, they also have on offer tailor-made courses and inter-cultural workshops to cater to the needs of the corporate sector. For details,

'Craft Santhe'

A special craft bazaar, called Craft Santhe, will on at Chitrakala Parishat till February 10. Over 100 artisans from all over the country will display their products.
There will be live demonstrations from master craftsmen. Some of the items on display are Tanjore paintings, cane and bamboo products, handcrafted saris, silk designer saris, dress materials, Madhubanipaintings etc. The timing is from 10 am to 8 pm.

Kannada classes

Kannada Prasaara Parishat will start its next batch of spoken Kannada classes and Kannada script read-write learning classes in separate batches. The classes are held only on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm at the Hosmat Hospital premises, Magrath Road. Successful candidates will be awarded certificates of merit. For details, call 9448878569.

Bangalore International Centre has arranged
a talk on 'Changes in
Burma/Myanmar seen in a geopolitical context' by Bertil Lintner on February 15, 6.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre Auditorium, Teri Complex, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur II Stage.

Learning German

The '4th German Teachers Conference 2013', with about 150 teachers of the German language from schools and universities of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, will be held on February 9 and 10, 9 am to 5 pm at Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller
Bhavan. This annual event is a meeting point and platform for teachers to scale up learner-centred activities in the language classroom.

This year's conference, titled 'Speak out!', offers workshops in phonetics, short films, interactive grammar and creative methods. International guest speakers and insiders from industry will demonstrate through their sessions, how to make German classes exciting and full of fun.

The conference will also offer a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences. All sessions will be in German. For details, call 25205305.

'An Evening With Short Films' will be held on February 8, 7 pm at the
Alliance Française.

Fuelled by artistic expression and limited only by their runtime, short films transcend traditional storytelling. They are a significant and popular way artistes can
connect with audiences.
