In many ways, Aditi Govitrikar seems to have it all — a medical degree, a 'Mrs World' title, offers for ramp shows, television and films as well as two children. The green-eyed beauty always manages to turn heads when she hits the ramp.
But while she has a lot going for her, Aditi admits that she never planned out any of this. "I've never
believed in planning for tomorrow. I live in the present. But yes, I have always done what I feel is right and given it my all. I got into modelling purely by chance. At that time, I was completing my medical degree and a friend of mine asked me to come for a shoot. I did it for fun and before I knew it, I had entered 'Gladrags' and won it. After I won the contest, I realised this was something I wanted to do. So, I followed my instinct,"
she adds.
The glamour industry, she says, was very different at that time. With no background or connections in the industry, she had to learn everything from scratch. "Coming from a family where no one had anything to do with glamour world, I was like a fish out of water. But I feel that was the real beauty of the situation. I was walking into a territory that was unknown to me. So, it became even more exciting and challenging. Plus, I've always liked challenges," she shares.
One thing she has always been glad about is the fact that she has something to fall back on — her medical degree. That is something she always advises models to think of. "I was willing to take the chance to model as I always knew at the back of my mind that if this didn't work, I would have my career as a doctor to fall back on. That gave me more confidence. Nowadays, the modelling industry has become more bankable. But it is always better to have something to fall back on," she explains.
Currently, she isn't taking up any acting projects. Aditi says that she is at peace with modelling and is not too keen to face the camera as of now. "Right now, I am done with hosting and reality shows. I have teamed up with a couple of friends and am planning on getting into production. We are working on a script — but it's too soon to talk about it," she wraps up.
