It has been a month of fashion weeks. The eighth edition of 'Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week' saw a fabulous blend of fabrics and colours.

Day one started fashionably late with models frantically running from pillar to post and designers ensuring the last minute touch-up even as the lobby of the hotel was bustling with an infectious energy. The show kickstarted with designers Eddie and Simi who showcased their collection Maysa. Full of sober tones with intricate chikankari work, the collection had dresses and kaftans apt for the summer.

Designers Arpita, Komal and Sunita focussed on jute but in neon and pastel colours. The colours really left an impression with one and all. The jute accessories, especially, made a statement on the ramp.

The first show-stopper of the day was actress Ramya Barna, who walked for Pratiksha Hegde. The collection called 'Glitter Desert' is something Ramya said she could relate to. "I am someone who likes to experiment with not only my roles but also my clothes. I really like Pratiksha's clothes and it suits my style quotient," she added.

The other highlights of the day were Upasana's 'My Own Identity', Ambrish Damani's Jashne Bahar and Vandana Raj's 'Journey of Life'. Day one ended with Niki Mahajan's 'Under the Sun'. Following the theme of summer, most of the garments had pastel and neon colours and flowing silhouettes. And some stood out with their vivid floral designs.

Former 'Mrs India' and popular model Aditi Gowitrikar, who walked for Rajneeral Babutta, said, "I have come to Bangalore so many times and each time, it seems to be different. But one thing that hasn't changed here is the vibe and the energy."

Day two unleashed a riot of colours. The designers did well to blend just the right amount of colour and design. The show opened with Shweta Shill and Pankaj Kumare's collection titled, 'You and Me', where the designers chose to give the traditional khadi, a contemporary, modern finish.

This was designer Akshita Jain's debut show at the fashion week and her collection titled, 'Crayons', is a playful collection of timeless gowns with fun-filled flares and dazzling colours — spring hues, bright summer shades and contrasting colours. "The idea is to make something classy, subtle yet with a bit of coyness. The clothes have modern cuts and I've played around with the colours and no two garments will look the same," she explained.

The set of shows after dusk opened with Bangalore-based designer Umesh P Joshi's collection Arzu meaning desire. What stood out most in the collection was the Kasuti work on Ilka and Kanchivaram saris. Kasuti is a traditional form of embroidery practiced in Karnataka. "I've tried to portray the essence of Indian wear. There's a lot of embroidery on the borders and the colours are bright and it has been designed for special occasions," says Umesh.

Ramesh Dembla's line, 'Fuchsia Shine' is a tribute to women in these troubled times. He pays a tribute to the female spirit, "Hues of pink and purple have been crafted and designed in my signature style. It literally celebrates womanhood. The clothes are bright and loud. All in an effort to make a woman feel good," he reasoned. The show stoppers were actors Nidhi Subbaiah and Jackky Bhagnani.

Designer Archana Kochhar closed the evening with her bridal sutra collection which is a mix of rich and diverse cultures with vibrant and vivid colours. The collection showcased heavy exquisite lehengas, sherwanis, anarkalis and saris that were lavishly fabricated in silk, brocade, satin, velvet, georgette, net and chiffon.
