No plans to work in Bollywood
Many Southern stars may be eyeing Bollywood projects, but Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu isn't one of them. He says that he has no plans to act in Bollywood films and would prefer to focus only on Telugu cinema. "I have already said that my contribution will be only for Telugu films," he says and adds, "I don't have any plans to work in Bollywood."
The superstar explains that though he has been getting many offers from Bollywood, he would like to concentrate only on Southern cinema. "I want to do great Telugu films and I am focussing only on that," he admits, adding that he was delighted with the great response to Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, also starring Venkatesh in the lead.
"Every time (a film releases) I am excited, but this time I am also satisfied," he confesses. Srikanth Addala directed the family drama, which has bagged good reviews from the critics and also received tremendous response from across the state and in theatres abroad.
'Compliments don't matter'
Kangana Ranaut has carved a niche for herself in tinsel town and is very comfortable in her space. In fact, the actress says that she rarely seeks praise from other people — rather, she takes pride in being confident of herself. Because of this, compliments don't matter to her in the least, she adds. "You may get a lot of compliments but if you are confident and you are sure of who you are, these compliments don't matter," the 25-year-old says candidly.
Kangana has tried to sport different looks in her movies, including a crop of curly hair in her Bollywood debut 'Gangster - A Love Story'. She's known to experiment quite freely with her hair, unlike other actresses who stick to the same, safe styles. She says that while enacting a role, she pays attention to the hairstyle of her characters too. In fact, she sported straight tresses in 'Life In A...Metro' and a retro hair-do in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. "I think all actors say that it is important to get into the skin of the character. But if you have seen my characters, I have to understand the hair of the character as well, because the kind of hair a character has is important. It reveals a lot about one's personality," she says. Kangana has an impressive line-up of work in the pipeline, including 'I Love New Year', 'Shootout At Wadala', 'Queen', Ungli and Krrish 3.
Spotting the right face
Subhash Ghai has been on the look out for a heroine for him upcoming film Kaanchi for a while now.
And apparently, his search ended recently. After extensive auditioning, he has zeroed in on the perfect face for his film.
"It is really a tough job to write a good script, which promises to be a blockbuster as well being a great story with great characters. It's tougher when you decide to pick a newcomer to play the title role instead of an established star. I went on auditioning the most beautiful girls and the talented ones; around 350 girls were auditioned to get the right one, the way I had imagined in my script," he says.
After all this work, he's finally found the perfect heroine — Mishti, from Kolkata.
"I found so many beautiful girls with talent, but could not find my Kaanchi (the name of the character) in them till I saw a picture of Mishti. As I auditioned Mishti, I knew in the very first shot that she was the Kaanchi I was looking for. I was looking more for the right face rather than a beauty. Today, I am glad that my hunt is over. What I have to do now is make a beautiful film," adds the film-maker.
Kaanchi will be Subhash Ghai's 19th film and Mishti will be the sixth heroine that he will be introducing to Bollywood after Meenaxi Sheshadri, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala, Mahima Chowdhary and Isha Sharvani.
Ajay shakes a leg
Ajay Devgan surprised his fans with his dancing skills in the song Chalao Na, from Bol Bachchan.
And now, he is set to recreate that magic again for a song in Himmatwala. Apparently, the actor slipped on his dancing shoes for a song called Taki O Taki Re, which has been choreographed by Farah Khan.
Ajay shot for the sequence of the song with the film's heroine, Tamannah, in Jaipur.
Word has it that Ajay will be flaunting some unique moves, while Tamannah will be all about the latkas and thumkas for this song. A source close the team says,
"It's a very 80s dance number and Ajay was quite comfortable with the steps. He has his own style of dancing and has given this his best. We are sure that Ajay's dancing will leave all of us thrilled."
