All's well when you sleep well

Sleeplessness is a life style problem. It is bothering people of all ages in different work fields.

It is associated with stress, worries and fast pace of life. All this causes disharmony in body and mind. A body deprived of sleep does not cooperate at all and it is difficult to be creative and innovative with a tired body and mind.

Lot of help is available for overall wellness, like for example stress release and handling negative emotions like anger and sadness. All this helps in getting good sleep too, but a little more is required to hit the bed. Sleeplessness occurs when body and mind are not in sync. It happens when either body is too tired but mind is active at the bed time or, mind is tired but body is active.

For a deep and relaxing sleep it is important to have both body and mind to be in sync, means both should be willing to retire. Let us see what causes that:

What makes mind active in bed time: Our brain frequency should be on a lower side at sleep time so that we can sleep well. What makes them high is sensation in any form. Any serious matter discussed just before bed time can make the brain frequency high and that results in disturbed or poor sleep. Also, mood altering substances taken at night makes your brain active.

What makes body active at bed time: It is directly related to sedentary life style. Body feels active at night when it does not move much in the day. Also we put our body to work just before sleep by eating late dinner and having late nights. It is not possible to sleep well by going to bed with a body which is still in digestive process.

What can be done: What helps here is preparing ourselves for sleep on daily basis. Planning and following a wellness routine for a good night's sleep will definitely help us in the long run. The purpose of this routine is to make our body and mind cooperate with each other for sleep. Here are a few tips which can be of help:

* Finish off all your work one hour before your bed time. Try and spend this one hour without any gadget (as much as possible) Try not to watch T.V. during this time because it causes brain frequency to rise. If it is a must then try to watch some comedy serials or cartoon network. Best will be if you can spend this time doing some light activity (which should not at all be a must).
* Soothing instrumental music (especially based on flute) helps your mind and body to calm down. So you can listen to it ten or fifteen minutes (or more) before going to bed.
* Warm water bath before sleep helps your body and mind to be in the same direction. So help yourself with a luxurious bath with warm water and lavender aroma in it.
* It is said that colors of sunset have natural tranquilizers in them. Being regularly out at sunset will help you in sleeping better. If it is possible then be out during sunset without glasses and contact lenses to absorb it in a better way. It can be more effective if you can walk bare foot on the grass at the time of sunset.
* Finally, what helps more is to be more connected with sun and soil.
* Include at least five meals each week in Mediterranean fashion, which includes lots of fruits, vegetable and raw form of little oil.
Following these tips will be definitely help you hit the sack in peace.
