Live performance

CounterCulture will be presenting a rock concert by 'Indus Creed' on January 26, 5 pm.

The band members — Uday Benegal, Mahesh Tinaikar, Zubin Balaporia, Rushad Mistry and Jai Row Kavi — will break new frontiers with their high-on-energy and big-on-melody sound yet again.

The performance is a part of the 'Battle of the Bands' finale.

There will also be a performance by Hans Koch from Switzerland on
January 27, 8 pm.

Hailing from Biel, reeds player Hans Koch has been a constant presence among improvised music's global cream of the crop for over 30 years.

Both the concerts will be held at CounterCulture, 2D2, 4th Cross, Dyavasandra Industrial Area, Whitefield Road.

'Free India Jam'

The 'Free India Jam', a music concert featuring 12 bands, will perform on January 26, from 10 am at Freedom Park, Seshadri Road. The concert will have three headliners and a special performance by Dhrusya Nirvana, a collaboration of artistes. Among the bands that will perform are 'Rocketsauce', 'Dequma', 'Death Hallucination', 'Errorz', 'Djinn and Miskatonic', 'Crockchets' and 'Ontologus'. For details call, 9980698008.

'Qasbah'

A photography exhibition titled, Qasbah, is on at No 1, Shanthi Road Gallery till January 27. The show will have pictures from old nooks in Medieval cities.

'Ragavalli'


Ananya is holding Ragavalli, a programme series on theory and presentation of new musical compositions by Sataavadhaani R Ganesh and Rajani Nagaraj Vasuki on January 27, 10 am at Ananya Sabhangana, 4th Main, Malleswaram.

'Technokriti'

Magnitude Gallery is presenting Technokriti, an exhibition of original paintings, based on the IT industry. The paintings capture the latest in IT revolution as well as the pioneering trends. The exhibition is on at Magnitude Gallery at 140/13, 27th Cross, 13th Main, 3rd Block, Jayanagar.

Charity show

Samriddhi is presenting a charity concert on January 26, 5.30 pm onwards at Mount Carmel College, Vasanthnagar, which will feature some of the prominent dancers from across the country.

There will be kathak recital by Hari and Chethana, mohiniyattam by Rekha Raju, odissi by Vandana Supriya, bharatanatyam by Tandava and contemporary dance by The Kha Foundation. For details, call 9972453791.

Handicraft fair

The 'North-East India Handicrafts Magic' Festival will be on at Mantri Square Mall, Malleswaram from January 27 to 31, 11 am to 8.30 pm. On display are handicrafts, products made of bamboo and cane such as handbags, flower and handloom
products in addition to horticulture products such as spices, fruits and pickles.

Classical strains

A classical music concert, Swar Dhaara will be held on January 27, 6 pm at Shri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Swami Temple auditorium, Mahalakshmi Layout (Mahalakshmi
Puram).

The programme will feature a Hindustani classical vocal concert by Vinayak Torvi and violin performance by Nalina Mohan.

'Rasa Sanje'

The Rasa Sanje festival will feature a bharatanatyam recital by Shivaranjani H on January 27, 7 pm at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road.

Unique treat

Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts is presenting, 'Attakkalari India Biennial 2013', a ten-day international festival of contemporary dance and digital arts based out of Bangalore. Over 250 artists from 22 countries from across the world will come together for the festival. The performances will be held in different venues across the City.

The 'Urban Ballet' by Compagnie Revolution from France will be presented on January 27, 7.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.

'Urban Ballet' is a work that goes beyond classical dance and hip hop to create a hybrid style that transcends all
genres.

The work is a skilful melange between classical music and hip-hop inspired movements, and therefore it results in a unique work that is tinged with the myriad influences of the choreographer, Anthony Égéa.

Duet recital

Keshava Samskruthi Sabha is presenting a flute duet by B K Anantha Ram and Amith A Nadig on January 26, 6 pm at Keshava Samskruti Sabha, 556, Samskruthi Bhavan, 11 Main, ISRO Layout. The flutists will be accompanied by M P Aditya on the violin,
B Dhruvaraj on the mridangam and B R Ravikumar on the ghatam.


'Drishti' fest

The 8th edition of the 'Drishti Dance Festival', organised by Drishti Art Foundation, by Anuradha Vikranth and T M Vikranth, will be held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on January 26, 6 pm. The event will be a visual feast with an array of delightful performances. It will have an odissi dance recital by 'Nrityantar Dance Ensemble' led by Madulita Mohapatra; bharatanatyam by Anuradha Vikranth and 'Drishti Dance Ensemble'; and Indian contemporary dance by Samudra, a leading Indian contemporary dance company from Kerala.

The evening will also feature Punyah, a classical dance ensemble led by Parshwanath Upadhya.

'Manas'

Manas, a bharatanatyam performance by Yamini Muthanna, will be held on January 26, 7 pm at JSS Auditorium, 1st Main Road, 38th Cross, Jayanagar 8th block.
The choreography will be broken into five chapters inspired by the hymns in the Taittiriya Upanishad, where it is said that the human organism has five layers.
Yamini has explored this concept in the production Manas.
