His directorial venture is called 'ABCD — Anybody Can Dance'. But nobody can dance like Remo D'Souza. Inspired by Micheal Jackson, Remo threw away a promising career as a sportsman and plunged into the world of dance.
"I was an athlete and a good sportsman. I never thought I would be a dancer until MJ changed my life forever," says Remo.
Talking about his film, 'ABCD — Anybody Can Dance', Remo admits to really believing that anybody and everybody can dance.
"I believe in the title of the movie, that dance is in everybody's blood," he says. About why he made a movie exclusively on dance, Remo adds, "If films that are based on dance can be made five or six decades ago, why can't we do the same today?"
The cast members of Remo's 'ABCD...' weren't selected through auditions; they were part of a popular dance reality show. "Being a part of reality shows, I already knew where the talent lay and whom to choose. The names were already in my head," Remo tells Metrolife.
When it comes to describing director, actor and choreographer Prabhu Deva, Remo can't find the right words. "He's one of the best I've seen. He comes on the sets, not like a big choreographer but like a newcomer and is always willing to learn. He is as humble as can be," shares Remo.
He feels that today's generation is confident and youngsters know exactly what they want and go after it.
"I watch my sons and realise that they've grown so much and there's really nothing under the sun that they don't know. And the dancing too is far better than what we used to do when we started," feels Remo.
Remo judged the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa along with Karan Johar and Madhuri Dixit and was honest when it came to both praising and criticising the participants.
"It's easy to criticise people but we must appreciate that India's got loads of talent and shows like this
undoubtedly help tap that talent," he shares. Remo thinks a lot of young people will be inspired to dance after watching 'ABCD...'.
Remo is wasting no time is starting his next project. "I am working on two other projects but first, I am focussed on promoting 'ABCD...'" he wraps up.
