'It will be a new experience for me'

Bipasha Basu isn't afraid to take risks. This was obvious when she acted in Raaz 3, a horror flick that definitely wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

And now, she is going to be joining hands with Vikram Bhatt once again, giving film-buffs something to look forward to.
Apparently, the successful duo are going to team up to make India's first 3D 'creature' film.

The film, which is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, is to be titled 'Creature! Creature!'. What's more, as a special treat for Bipasha, the film was announced on her 34th birthday.
Talking about the film, Bhushan Kumar says, "Vikram Bhatt and I are happy to announce that we have signed Bipasha Basu for our next creative collaboration and couldn't be more excited to be presenting it to her on her birthday."

The film, he goes on to add, will go on floors later this year. It is going to be a sci-fi flick, which is a relatively rare genre in tinsel town.

"The film lies in the sci-fi genre and it will go on floors in May. It will be shot on par with international standards," says Vikram.

He adds, "It will be India's first ever 'creature' film
that will be made on the lines of 'Predator' and 'Jurassic Park'. We will be releasing it in 3D."

Talking about the storyline, Bipasha says, "It will be a completely new experience for me. The film's treatment is such that it will also test my fitness and strength. I am excited."

The feel of the 80s

Sajid Khan's upcoming film, Himmatwala, is slated to release on March 29. It has already grabbed eyeballs thanks to its first look, which presents a flashback to the era of the 80s.

The makers of the film have decided to generate more hype about it by launching the theatrical trailer of Himmatwala at one of the oldest single-screen theatres in Mumbai.

The trailer will be launched on January 24 and rumour has it that the entire programme will be steeped in the style of the 80s.

Ajay Devgan, Tamannah — who plays the female lead — and director Sajid Khan, along with producers Ronnie Screwvala and Vashu Bhagnani, will attend the event.

Siddharth Roy Kapoor will also be present.
"Himmatwala is set in the 1980s and when we were planning the trailer launch, we decided to launch it in a theatre that was popular and is now reminiscent of the 80s, to give the event a completely retro feel. We are very excited about the trailer launch and people will relive the 80s with this forthcoming entertainer," says Shikha Kapur, executive director, marketing, studios, Disney UTV.

'Not every argument is about a contestant'

The twelfth season of 'American Idol' recently premiered on Big CBS Love. However, even before the show appeared on television, the love-to-hate relationship between singing divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj had been creating headlines. While Nicki Minaj claims to be the 'toughest judge on the panel', Mariah Carey confesses that she's on the show because it is 'bigger than life'.

With the Mariah-Nicki cat fight grabbing attention, the two ladies have their own versions to narrate about their infamous squabbles. Mariah Carey says, "There are some strong personalities here. I knew, starting this process, that there could be a difference of opinions. This is a very passionate panel. The fighting is what it is, but this is 'American Idol' — it's bigger than that. It's bigger than some stupid, trumped-up thing. It's about the next huge talent, a potential superstar that will come from this show."

The much younger and quirkier Nicki Minaj counters, "Haven't you ever been in a fight with someone you work with? Not every argument is about a contestant — but most of them are. A lot of the headlines were rumors, a lot of that was trumped up. There's a passion on the panel and at times, it's extraordinarily entertaining."

Comfort between eteran actors

Veteran actors Deepti Naval and Farooque Sheikh, who have teamed up for the film 'Listen Amaya' after 28 years, say that the chemistry between them remains intact. Deepti and Farooque have worked together in films like Chashme Buddoor, Saath Saath, Katha, Kisi Se Na Kehna and others. And now, they have come together for debutant Avinash Kumar Singh. "With the number of films we have done, there is a comfort between us and it becomes easy for us to emote on screen," Farooque explains. "The chemistry is there between us, just like we had earlier. The moment the camera is on, it comes naturally. There is a comfort, as we have worked together in the past," Deepti adds.

Farooque is obviously all praises for Deepti, saying, "She keeps us on your toes. She delivers solidly. There are very few actresses in the industry who have done a range of work like her."

And for her part, Deepti smiles, "He has been a convincing actor from the beginning and has not changed."
The film is about the relationship between a woman essayed by Deepti and her daughter, played by Swara Bhaskar of 'Tanu Weds Manu' fame. It explores what happens when a mother falls in love with a man, who is played by Farooque. Deepti, however, denies reports that it is a bold film. "The film is not bold. There are no bold scenes or content in the film as such. It is a subtle, sensitive film about the bond between a mother and her daughter — and the daughter's possessiveness after a man enters her mother's life, wondering whether the other man will delete the memories of the father," Deepti explains. The film is set to release on February 1.

Dedicated to his work

Shah Rukh Khan isn't called the badshah of Bollywood for no reason — the actor is dedicated to his work and proved this spirit yet again during a recent shoot. Apparently, he worked for a whopping 28 hours at a stretch, without taking a break.

The actor recently had an ad shoot, which went on for longer than expected. After that, he had to go straight to rehearse for his performance at an award ceremony. With all this work, he ended up practising till the wee hours of the morning.

After these rehearsals, the 47-year-old — who is also busy shooting for his production venture, 'Chennai Express', with Rohit Shetty — spent three hours discussing strategies around the release of the movie.

The curious case of quirky titles

Film-makers seem to be dangling new baits for cine-goers, with quirky, tongue-twisting film titles. Impossible-sounding names like Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana are intriguing audiences and bringing them to the theatres.

Ever since Salman Khan's films, which had dry and commonplace titles like 'Mr and Mrs Khanna' and Veer, tanked at the box office, Salman has made sure that his films have catchy titles that will instantly catch the fancy of the audience. 'Wanted', 'Ready', Ek Tha Tiger and, of course, Dabangg, bear testimony to his resolve that well begun is half done. And obviously, other film-makers are also cottoning on to this logic.
