'Splendour of...'

Banyan Tree is presenting, 'Splendour of Masters', a musical extravaganza on January 25, 7 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.

There will be a bharatanatyam performance by Alarmel Valli and an odissi recital by Madhavi Mudgal on the occasion.

There will also be a musical concert by Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (mohan veena), Rakesh Chaurasia (flute) along with Prasanna (electric guitar).

Mohamed Farghaly (oud) and Hamda Farghaly (qanoon) will also perform on the occasion.

Cultural mix

CounterCulture is presenting a concert by Soumik Datta on January 18, 8 pm. As a resident artiste for the London-based 'Alchemy Festival' and the 'Rich Mix Cultural Foundation', he has led groundbreaking arts projects earning him an international reputation. His top collaborators include Beyonce Knowles, Nitin Sawhney, Raghu Dixit, Bill Bailey, 'Olivier Award' winner Akram Khan, 'Mercury Award' winner Talvin Singh, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Javed Akhtar. 'Ganesh Talkies'

'Ganesh Talkies', a musical programme, will be held at Bflat, Indiranagar on January 18, 8.30 pm. 'Ganesh Talkies' blends alternative rock, reggae, ska and pop, peppered with influences culled from cinema. The result is Bollywood's extreme 'kitsch' meeting a dance-heavy ethos. Like a movie plot, the songs of 'Ganesh Talkies' tell stories that unfold collectively to make the whole picture. Big on drama, 'Ganesh Talkies' frequently slips into theatre couture on stage. Sarod strains

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation are presenting a sarod recital by Vijetha Anati at Indian Institute of World Culture, Basavangudi on January 24, 6 pm.

Vocal treat

Bhoomija is presenting two exquisite concerts by Sanjeev Abhyankar, the Hindustani vocalist in the City.

There will be a performance by Sanjeev on January 25, from 8 pm to 10 pm, at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield and another concert on January 26, 7 pm at Brigade MLR Convention Centre in JP Nagar.

He will be accompanied by Vyasmurti Katti on the harmonium and Viswanath Nakod on the tabla for both the concerts. For details, call 41242879.

Soulful notes


Nadasurabhi Cultural Association is presenting a grand vocal recital by TNS Krishna on January 20, 4.15 pm at Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, near police station, Koramangala.

Krishna will be accompanied by C N Chandrasekhar on the violin, B C Manjunath on the mridangam and Gururaj on the morsing.

Graduation special
