The students of SSRMV Degree College were excited as they started their first day in college. While some were busy making new friends, others were getting used to the idea of college life.
"I am glad that the college has started and I hope I am able to enjoy this phase of my life. I am looking forward to making some good friends and also focussing on my academics. Now that I am in college, I want to do things at my pace. I feel college is very flexible in that sense," said Pradeepa, a first-year degree student.
The students were dressed in formal clothes and got acquainted with their classmates.
They were also seen looking for familiar faces in the groups.
"Many of my school friends are here and I am thrilled to meet them. I was not in touch with most of them, but now that I am in the same college, I will keep in touch. I will certainly make new friends and hope to have a good time in college," said Vismitha, another student.
Many students came to the college with their parents and elder siblings. They were as nervous as they were excited. Kavitha said, "I was very nervous when I was at home, but now that I have entered college, I am happy and less tensed. I will study harder and focus on academics as I want to get a scholarship to pursue my post-graduation."
Parents were equally excited about their children going to college. "I will wait for my daughter to come back, so that I can hear what happened in class and how her teachers were. I wanted to escort her to college and felt very nostalgic while doing so. She was excited as well. I hope that she does well in college and makes some good friends," said Manikandan.
The students were seen figuring out their classrooms and discussing the electives that they would choose."I want to choose the same elective as my friend so that we can help each other while making notes. That will also help us in understanding the subject better. I am happy that I got the subject of my choice and I will definitely do my best," summed up Somy, a first-year student.
