Of fashion and ice cream

It was a fun evening for designer Prasad Bidapa and his models as they showcased clothes as well as a unique collection of ice cream sundaes at a fashion show held at Swensens in Koramangala.

While the clothes were designed to match perfectly with the sundaes, the colours were kept neutral with a touch of gold which added to the glamour quotient of the show. "I have used a lot of gold and lace for the show and the showstoppers have been given an elegant, regal look.

The clothes have been designed according to the characters that the models are playing. I decided to design the clothes for this event because it was fun and I have not done this in a long time," says Prasad.

The showstoppers — model Nisha and budding actor Vijay Suriya — played the character of the Nawab and Begum of Faluda. Dressed in white kurtas with
lace-trimmed borders, the couple walked the ramp with kulfi faluda sundaes in hand.

"The models were given characters based on the sundae, with which they would walk the ramp. For instance, model Natasha was carrying a nutty crispy tower sundae and the dress was designed similarly," adds Prasad.

The fun part of the show was that the models went around the store with the sundaes, while the guests were allowed to dig in. Model Selma, who was showcasing the ebony ivory sundae, was wearing a gold, lacy dress with light make-up.

A lot of gold, lace and net could be seen in Prasad's collection. He explains that he tried to keep the tone subdued so as to give more leverage to the sundaes. The
audience had nothing to complain about as they were enjoying the show along with lip-smacking sundaes.

"I never knew I would get a sundae at the show or I would have brought my friends along. It's a fun show and the models look stunning in the gold," says Aditya, one of the guests.

"The models are having a lot of fun. They have been trying a lot of the sundaes since they landed here and the best part is that I loved doing the show and it was a different experience," sums up Prasad.
