A break from monotony

It's not always the students who let their hair down and have fun. The management of M S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce proved that recently when they organised a day out for the teaching and non-teaching staff to 'Glorious Promised Land', a retreat at the foothills of Nandi Hills.

After a memorable train ride, where the whole group sang and danced together, they reached their destination. Everybody had a good time with a variety of activities through the day — cycling, indoor games, cricket, volleyball and even a movie screening at the auditorium there.

The staff members were enthralled by the scenic beauty of the place and were delighted to find an adventurous tree house while others relaxed in the wooden cottages. "It was really different and we enjoyed the journey. The place was calm and beautiful and even the food was very good!" says Rajanikanth, an office staff. "The best part was climbing the tree house and spending time there eating gooseberries from the farm."

For many of the staff members, being away from the City was the best part about the trip. Rudresh Gowda, a support staff member, shares, "I enjoyed the pollution-free atmosphere and was overwhelmed by the hospitality at the place."

Others just enjoyed the setting of the place. "Being an animal lover, I was thrilled with the farmhouse setting. The black turkey famous for chasing women and children encouraged all the staff members to boo the turkey down. The dogs were awesome and we enjoyed feeding the goats," notes Aska K K, head of department of Biotechnology/Genetics.

The day came to an end with a photo session. Overall, the trip was fun-filled and a joyous experience for the staff members, who got a chance to take a break from their usual hectic routines.
