'Work is my passion'

She may have come from one film family and married into another, but actress Kareena Kapoor says she endeavours to have a life outside the world of show business.

The 32-year-old actress, who tied the knot with actor Saif Ali Khan in October last year, says she has friends outside Bollywood and she tries to keep her personal life separate from her work.

"The key is to realise that we are here to work in this industry. I'm not over-friendly with anyone, I don't get into anyone's personal space because I don't want people to get into mine. I have a life outside of films," Kareena shares.

Having faced the huge media curiosity surrounding her marriage to Saif, Kareena says she prefers that her work make more news than her personal life. "Some of my friends are from the industry but most of them are not. So, that is a part of life that I cherish. I go to work and come back. I want to keep it like that — go to work, come home and let my work talk more than anything else," she adds.

Post marriage the actress has been super busy shooting for brand endorsements, while Saif has been shooting for Bullet Raja. "Saif has been shooting for Bullet Raja and I have shot for the Dabangg 2 song and promoted Talaash. I have also shot for eight brands since the wedding. We actors sign on brands and then, we forget that we have to give them four days each to shoot. I have been shooting every day. Work is my passion and Saif respects that," explains Kareena.

She did the item number 'Fevicol' for 'good friend' Salman Khan, and says she shares a warm relationship with the actor — ever since the days that her elder sister Karisma used to work with him.

"Salman and Karisma go back many years; they started with movies like Nishchay (1992) and I used to be on the sets. I was eight or nine years old then. He has that kind of love for me, as Karisma's younger sister. He was friendly during 'Bodyguard' and he respects the kind of person that I am. You can see the warmth between us and that's what I love," she shares.

Salman's father, veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan, had specially called Kareena to praise her performance as Rosie in her latest release, Talaash.

"When a living legend like Salim saab, who has written such great films and characters, calls you, it's something else. In my decade-long career, no one has given me the compliment that he has for Talaash. He never called me after Jab We Met. He said I have been studying your work, I think you are one of the best that we have, so please continue doing such roles. That's a great compliment," she smiles.

Ending the year with an Aamir-Khan starrer, Kareena is set to begin 2013 with his nephew Imran Khan as well as Prakash Jha's Satyagraha.

"I ended the year with Aamir, I'm going to start the year with Imran. Life's always a full circle — I've got to work with both. In January, I start shooting for a film with Imran Khan and then I have Satyagraha with Ajay Devgan. We start shooting for that on February 1," she wraps up.

Starry bash for Vidya

Several Bollywood A-listers attended a post-wedding party hosted by UTV head Ronnie Screwvala and wife Zarina, for newly-married couple Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor in South Mumbai.

The star-studded party was held at their Breach Candy apartment and many celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, the Bachchans — Amitabh, Aishwarya, Jaya and Abhishek Bachchan — Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Prakash Jha, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan and family, Rajkumar Hirani, Arbaaz Khan and Daboo Ratnani among others dropped in to wish the couple.

The guests started arriving around 11 pm for the bash, which went on till the late hours.
It's still not clear whether it was a reception or a just a regular party, as there was
no official confirmation in this regard.

But it was evident that everyone had come to extend their support to the couple, and wish them a happy married life.

Vidya tied the knot with Siddharth at a private ceremony on December 14 last year.

'I'm writing my new script'

Kabir Khan isn't one to let the grass grow under his feet. After the success of his previous film, Ek Tha Tiger, the director is already on to his next project.

Kabir says that he is busy writing his new film's script these days. "I am already writing my (new) script at the moment. I cannot reveal much about it as of now," Kabir admits. The director has just started working on the script and says that once it is ready, he will start looking for the cast of the flick.

"Once it is complete, I will finalise the casting and then we will start shooting. But I don't want to talk about it as of now," he adds.

Kabir, who had earlier directed 'Kabul Express' and 'New York', even refused to reveal the new film's genre.

"I don't want to talk about the genre at the moment. I will be announcing it officially once it is ready," he states.

Back to her roots

If sources are to be believed, Freida Pinto is thinking of devoting a bit more time to her career in Bollywood.

The 'Slumdog Millionaire' actress, was recently in Dubai, walking the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the city's international film festival, for which she serves on the jury this year.

Freida wore a glamorous gold Ralph Lauren gown as she posed for pictures, before attending the screening of 'Life of Pi'. Having worked with some of the biggest names in the West — Danny Boyle, Woody Allen, Julian Schnabel, Michael Winterbottom, Tarsem Singh, Jean-Jacques Annaud and even Terrence Malick — Freida is apparently keen to be part of an Indian film.

Apparently, she joked with Anurag Kashyap — who has a small cameo as himself, along with Freida, in Michael Winterbottom's film, 'Trishna' — that he should write a good role for her in one of his film's, rather than saving all the best ones for his wife, Kalki Koechlin.

Another project in the pipeline

After making his debut in the Karan Johar directorial 'Student of the Year', newcomer Varun Dhawan has already snagged another project — he is likely to feature in the remake of a Telugu film, which will be produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Varun, 25, made a hit debut with Karan Johar's movie along with Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt last year.

"We have approached Varun and we are in talks with him. Things are in the process. We are getting things worked out. We had bought the rights of the Telugu film a year back," a source close to the project says.

Gossip mills are abuzz that the film in question is a comedy and will be directed by David Dhawan. But there has been no official announcement from the makers yet. "We are in process of finalising things, including the cast and crew. We will hopefully make an announcement in a week's time," the source adds. The shooting for the film is likely to begin from this year.
