Rap and rave

Not many rappers have adapted to dance music's takeover of popular hip-hop as smoothly as Flo Rida. The Miami-area rapper has a rapid-fire delivery and straightforward phrasing which blends seamlessly with ravy choruses. Tramar Lacel Dillard, better known by his stage name Flo Rida, has sustained his characteristic style since his debut album, 'Mail on Sunday' in 2008.

Most songs on 'Wild Ones', his fourth studio album, stick to this formula. The album begins with Flo Rida's latest hit on the charts, Whistle, which has an infectious chorus. It is a pop rap song characterised by a whistling melody. The track, Good Feeling, is a dance floor track with its acoustic-driven guitars, computerised beats and charging keyboards. The track also features a sample of Etta James' 1962 gospel-tinged hit, Something's Got a Hold on Me. Flo Rida vows to never lose in the game of life. He raps, I got adrenaline / Never givin' in / Givin' up is not an option, I gotta get it in / Witness, I got a heart of 20 men / No fear, go to sleep in the lion's den.

The title track, Wild Ones, features Australian singer-songwriter Sia Furler. Let It Roll borrows heavily from New Orleans R&B hero Earl King's Come On, which has been covered by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and many others. Georgi Kay adds chorus work to the track In My Mind, Part2. It sounds similar to the title track, Wild Ones.

Flo Rida has roped in Rhythm 'n' Blues superstar Jennifer Lopez to feature on the track Sweet Spot. He gets emotional talking about lost love on the track Thinking of You, which, however, is out of place in this album. I cry is an urban dance track and features a sample from Brenda Russell's 1988 song, Piano in the Dark.
