Honour for an innovative green effort

The Leela Palace Bangalore, spanning nine verdant acres, was conferred the 'National Energy Conservation Award 2012' by President Pranab Mukherjee for its outstanding achievements in energy conservation.

New Delhi, attended by stalwarts and prominent personalities from a wide array of
industries, including Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, Minister of State for Power; P Uma Shankar, Union Power Secretary; and Jyoti Arora, director-general, Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

The 'National Energy Conservation Awards', organised annually by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which is a statutory body under Ministry of Power, Government of India, nationally recognise the businesses that have made systematic and serious attempts for efficient utilisation and conservation of energy during the year. Andrew Hendrian, general manager, The Leela Palace Bangalore, said, "We are honoured to receive this recognition for our enduring commitment to promoting energy conservation. We are proud to be part of a group known for its green innovation efforts."
