Many stores in the City are stocking the latest trends in neon colours
Going bling seems to be the trend of the season. Eye gear, hats, clothes shoes...everything is in neon. Many are even colour coordinating their clothes with their shoes and so on.
Neon-coloured watches and clothes can be seen at shopping malls as well as in the markets. If the sunglasses have a dark tint, the rims are brightly coloured Youngsters say neon is very much 'in' and they would rather be bright than dull this party season.
"We have an annual party in our office every year and we have it this year too with a theme. We have decided that we will wear neon glasses and hats. These are bright, very much in vogue and can be purchased easily. In fact, we bought these from places like Chickpet and Commercial Street," says Ashwin, a professional.
Places like Brigade Road also have a decent variety, from neon green wrist
watches to bling waist belts. Priced decently, they are pretty popular among youngsters who are ready to spend on these funky colours.
Muthu, a salesman selling these products on Brigade Road, says that colours like neon green and blue are selling like hot cakes.
"Black and white, being common colours, are in demand throughout the year but colours like shocking green and electric blue are liked by youngsters. The sale certainly picks up during Christmas and New Year as it is the party season. Many can be seen sporting these colours now," he informs.
Swetha, a student, points out that the trend changes every year. "Last year, horns with lights were in fashion and everyone could be seen sporting these at parties. But this year, neon colours and bling is in. I am planning to team up a shocking pink skirt with a neutral coloured top to add bling to my wardrobe.
In fact, I can see many youngsters in bright neon colours at the parties. Everyone is busy shopping for these bling clothes," she says.
Footwear is also not far behind when it comes to neon colours. From 'Converses' to chappals, it is everywhere. What is interesting is that many who considered these colours too garish are now lining up at the shops to buy them.
"I was quite averse to these colours earlier and had no clue that they will become so popular. I have to admit that the latest shoes available in neon colours are too tempting and everyone seems to love these.
They look trendy and I am planning to buy a pair soon," says Madhuri, a professional.
