Bioinformatics exam
The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi and School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi is conducting Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination on Februart 23 and 24, 2013.
The objective of this examination is to identify bioinformatics professionals. This will help potential employers in recruitment of candidates having exceptionally good bioinformatics skills.
Graduates in any science, agriculture, veterinary, medicine, pharmacy, engineering and technology are eligible to appear for the examination. They need not have any formal training, diploma or certificate in bioinformatics.
Syllabus approved by the National advisory committee is available online. It consists of five section: Bioinformatics, Biology, Physical and Chemical sciences, Mathematics and Statistics and IT.
The examination fee is Rs 600 for candidates from an open category and Rs 450 for reserved category candidates. The paper I will be of objective type. The Paper II will be of short answer type and the paper III will be a computer-based practical. Research fellowships for all the successful candidates those who are interested and qualified in pursuing PhD in India will be awarded. In addition 10 cash prizes for top 10 successful candidates will be awarded.

Admission cum Scholarship Test
Aakash, institute for medical and engineering coaching is conducting the first admission cum Scholarship Test (ACST) for upcoming academic session for its medical/ IIT-JEE/ Foundation Courses 2014-15. Students of classes 8th and 9th will be eligible for the Foundation courses, while students of class 10th and 11th can take part in the Engineering and Medical courses simultaneously, to be held on 13th January 2013.
Through these tests, Aakash will be offering admission to students for its various regular classroom courses with applicable concession organized at its branches and franchise centers. The admission test also gives an opportunity to the student to perform higher and get scholarship. A student, who has qualified for Aakash's direct admission criteria can also sit for ACST and get himself/herself a scholarship. The syllabus of the admission test is different for different courses (essentially previous classes Science and/or Maths syllabus, depending on the class). Interactive session with Nobel laureate
Heritage Group of Institutions has organised two interactive sessions as a part of the centenary celebrations of the Indian Science Congress. The first session is an invited lecture by Prof Ei-ichi Negishi, 2010 Nobel laureate in Chemistry from Japan on Janaury 4, 2013 from 4 pm to 5 pm. In the second session children meet scientists under the aegis of Indian Science Congress on January 6, 2013 from 2.30 to 5.30 pm. The venue for the event is the Heritage campus in Kolkata.

The Karnataka State Open University is conducting an distance course in Certificate in Nutrition and Food (CNF). Admission is open to all who have completed 10th Standard. Exam related fee shall be paid only through SBM/SBI Bank using the Challan provided by KSOU. Students should write their Name, Roll Number, and Programme/Course & Regulation in the Challan. NIIT University scholar search
NIIT University has announced the NU Scholar Search Program. The program will help students secure early admission in the cutting edge NIIT University B Tech programs on the basis of their performance in 10th and 12th standard examinations and a student and parent interaction process with the University.
For admission to the BTech programs, students appearing in Class XII boards in March/April 2013 and those who have taken their Class XII Board examination not earlier than March-April 2011 can apply to the University. Students with an aggregate of 60% and above in Class Xcan apply under Early Admission (EAD) mode. NU supports the Early Admission candidates for their Class XII exams through the Study Smart initiative. Last date to submit application under Early Admission phase is January 31, 2013.
Meritorious students who have scored 80% or more marks in Class X exams combined with good performance in Class XII exams, are eligible for scholarships under the NU Scholar Search program ranging up to 100% of the University and Hostel fees, along with a monthly assistantship.
