In concert
The Directorate of Kannada and Culture and Ananya are presenting a Carnatic music concert by S Shankar on December 30, 6.30 pm. He will be accompanied by Vittal Rangan (violin), V S Rajagopal (mridangam) and S V Balakrishna (morsing).The venue is Ananya Sabhangana, 91/2, 4th Main, Malleswaram.
Comedy time
The theatre group Hope Plus will be presenting the Kannada play 'Trupti @ 60 Rs' at K H Kala Soudha, Hanumanthnagar on December 29, from 7 pm. The writer-director of the play is Shreenath M R. The lead role of the cook Trupti is played by Shreenath himself. The witty cook finds happiness in satisfying everyone in the household. He adds spice to their lives and churns out comedy at home. The family members too contribute to the comedy through their funny lifestyles.
'Parampara'
Rajguru Smruti is presenting a Hindustani musical programme Parampara, at Akhila Havyaka Sabha Bhavan, 11th cross, Malleswaram, on December 30, 6 pm. The programme will include vocal recitals by Pandit Parameshwar Hegde and two of his students, Anagha Hindlekar and Shashikala Bhat. Vikas Naregal will be on tabla and Madhusudhan Bhat will be on harmonium. The event is sponsored by Department of Kannada and Culture and Balachandra Naikankatte Trust.
Musical delight
As part of Sapthaswara Academy's 104th grand monthly chamber music, a vocal recital by Anushka will be held on December 30, 6.45 pm at the residence of Dr K Gopalan, 4/2, Malleswara Mansion, 6th Main, Malleswaram.
'Kala Sammelana'
Abhimaan Craft Society is holding its arts and crafts exhibition Kala Sammelana till January 6 at Safina Plaza, Infantry Road. This exhibition, which promotes craft-based goods and aims to help artisans, will have around 50 stalls from 22 states, with unique arts and crafts from remote villages. The items available are khadi from Karnataka and West Bengal, chanderi saris from Madhya Pradesh, bandhini from Gujarat, Lucknow chikan from UP, shawls from Jammu and Kashmir, hand-block printed materials from Rajasthan. There will also be kurtas for men. Also on display are madhubhani paintings from Bihar and Pattachitra from Orissa.
