For any Christian institution, Christmas is one season that is celebrated in full spirit.
And St Joseph's College of Art and Science is no different. From decorating the entire campus and putting up a beautiful crib to spreading the joy of the season, everyone on campus is enjoying the festive spirit.
The campus also saw its annual Christmas fest, 'Magi 2012', recently. This
inter-class fest saw many events revolving around the theme of the festival.
The week-long fest comprised of competitions like greeting-card making, collage, photography, painting, 'Pot Pourri' and so on.
The highlights of the week were the live crib-making competition, the carol
composition and Christmas play.
Melody, a science student, says that the fest was really enjoyable as everyone took part with equal enthusiasm. "Unlike other colleges, which have only one day to celebrate the festival, there is something to look forward to every day of the week," she adds.
This being an inter-class programme, Adeline, a second-year student, says that the class actually sets time aside to practice for the various events, like the Christmas play and carol composition.
"We also join in and play games like 'Secret Santa', which is loads of fun," she adds.
Deepak, a first-year botany student, enjoys the live crib-making competition. "Though I didn't take part in the competition, I did go to check out the various cribs; each one was more creative than the other," he adds.
As for the carol composition event, each class brought a different element to the stage. While some dressed in a uniform colour, others added a little dance to
make their performance more lively.
The first-year botany students, however, wore Santa hats and even got one of their classmates to dress up like Santa Claus.
Marcillin, who dressed up like Santa, says that it was all in good spirit.
"We wanted to bring something different and thought, why not have a Santa amidst the group? This year, 'Magi' has been a whole lot of fun and given each one of us a platform to showcase our talents," sums up Marcillin.
