For an actor, venturing beyond one's on-screen 'image' is always a risk. These sort of roles raise a lot of curiosity and are also a big gamble as it's impossible to predict whether fans will accept it. But Radhika Pandit recently took the risk of trying something completely different in her last movie 'Drama'.

Always known to portray girl-next-door roles, she went all out playing a flirt in the
Yograj Bhat directorial. And luckily for her, people have not only accepted this new avatar but have also showered her with loads of appreciation. "After the success of Addhuri, everyone was awaiting the release of 'Drama', and so was I. Since I play such a contrast character in this movie, Iwas curious to see if Iwould be able to carry off the role — and I am extremely happy with the result. Of course, any movie is a team effort and it wouldn't have been possible without the rest of the team," Radhika tells Metrolife.

The actress just finished another project, Kaddi Puddi, starring Shivarajkumar, directed by Suri. In this too, Radhika has tried something different by going de-glam. "Working with such a talented director has been an amazing experience. I play a junior artiste who gets married. The role has been a challenge as Ihad to really get into the character of playing a married woman with limited means," she says.

Soon, Radhika will be seen in a love story called Dilwala, which also stars Shailendra Babu's son, Sumanth. The shooting of the flick started recently. She plays a college student in this movie. "After Addhuri, Ihaven't done any love story. 'Drama' had love as more of an undercurrent and Kaddi Puddi is an action flick. But Dilwala will bring a lot of freshness to the screen and Iam excited to work with a whole new team of artistes," she adds.

There has been immense growth in Radhika's career ever since Moggina Manasu. Today, with most of her movies doing well not only in the eyes of the critics but also at the box-office, she is being pegged as one of the most bankable actresses in the Kannada film industry.

Ask her if the tag of being 'number one' really matters and she says, "Tags have never mattered to me. But the fact that my movies do well at the box office make me feel really nice. Each success is like crossing a milestone. I say milestone because it really makes me realise that Iam on the right track."
