'I want to do regional films'
She has been away from the limelight for quite sometime and actress Mahima Choudhary says she wants to make a 'small comeback' on the silver screen — with regional films.
The 39-year-old actress married architect Bobby Mukherjee in 2006 and the couple were blessed with a baby girl two years later. She then took a break from films to concentrate on motherhood.
"I don't want to put pressure on myself to make a comeback. I don't want to do something extraordinary. It could be a small film but the plot should be interesting. I want to do regional films because they are coming out with great scripts," Mahima says.
The actress made a promising debut with Subhash Ghai's 1997 film Pardes.
After that, she starred in many films — as a young bride forced to fight dowry in Lajja and a stubborn tenant in Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar.
But the actress says after becoming a mother, priorities have changed in her life.
"Life changes once you have a baby. There was a time when I did films like crazy. But now, after marriage and being a mother, I tend to look for something substantial in scripts. In these years, I have not been not active in films but recently I hosted a children's reality show," she adds.
Before taking a break, she starred in films like 'Sandwich' and Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana.
These films did not do well at the box-office but Mahima has no regrets about
them.
"I did those films because I found them interesting.
As an actress, I got the opportunity to play different characters. These films are part of my career and I feel that we actors do many films which are not appreciated
by the audience," she says, adding, "I never missed the industry in these years.
I was not doing films but I always meet my co-stars at some event or party. A couple of months ago, we all met at Amit ji's (Amitabh Bachchan) birthday bash. So, I never felt like I was out of the industry."
'My mum is my biggest critic'
Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has seen her share of box-office success, seems to be quite a family girl. In fact, when it comes to taking criticism, the actress candidly admits
that there's one person she takes very seriously — her mother.
She says that her mother, Poonam Sinha, is her biggest critic.
"My mum is my biggest critic and I take her opinion very seriously because I know that she is one person, who is saying it only for my good and nobody else's," Sonakshi shares.
"If I could have done something much better or if an outfit is not looking good, she will tell me then and there itself. The best part is she is so honest about it. My father thinks everything I do is good," she adds.
When asked whether she takes her family's opinion before signing any film, Sonakshi replies, "I consult my whole family before signing a film because they have been in the industry for a long time. So, it's the logical thing to do."
She also frankly admits that her family takes out a lot of time to support her in her different ventures.
"My mum sometimes sits with me also for the narration — my dad (Shatrughan Sinha) is not always there, though, so I give him a gist of the narration. Till now, my brothers (Luv and Kush) have not criticised me and are very proud," she explains. Sonakshi is currently busy promoting her forthcoming film Dabangg 2 with Salman Khan, which has been directed by Arbaaz Khan.
Fun times for Juhi
Actress Juhi Chawla, who has joined her contemporary Madhuri Dixit in the upcoming film Gulab Gang, is excited about starting to shoot for her part in the movie. "Shooting my introduction scene of Gulab Gang at Kamalistan Studios. Can't express how much I am enjoying it," Juhi tweets.
It is the first time that Juhi and Madhuri will be seen together on the big screen.The film is about a gang of women fighting social injustice and is inspired by the real-life gang of the same name, which is led by Sampat Pal in Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh. Directed by Soumik Sen, Gulab Gang is produced by film-maker Anubhav Sinha. The film also features actors Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla.
Nostalgic moment for Naseer
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah recently experienced a touch of nostalgia. The actor, who played Father Braganza in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, went back to shoot in the same church in Delhi for his film 'John Day' — after a gap of 18 years.
In Kundan Shah's Kabhi Haan..., featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, and Deepak Tijori, the 62-year-old played a peace-loving priest. However, in the new film his role is completely opposite.
In 'John Day', he plays an angry, old man seeking revenge. It is directed by debutant Ahishor Solomon.
Produced by 'A Wednesday' director Anjum Rizvi along with K Asif, 'John Day' is an edge-of-the-seat revenge drama. Actors Randeep Hooda, Elena Kazan, Shernaz Patel, Sharat Saxena and Vipin Sharma play key roles in the film.
