'I'm looking for a strong character'

Actress Tena Desae, who is gearing up for the release for her new film 'Table No. 21', says it doesn't make sense to decide to do a film solely by seeing its script.

It's important for her to understand the entire set-up of the film before signing on the dotted line. "You can't just base it on a script. The promotional activity of the film is equally important, so until I know the set-up is strong, I don't want to do any film," the actress says.

She admits that smaller set-ups today have the best scripts.

"The smaller set-ups have all the good scripts. When you go to a big set-up, the character may not be as strong as you would want it to be. So, I am looking for a character, which is strong — as well as the set-up," she adds.

At the end of the day, she believes, the success of the film matters most, rather than individual actors. "I think it is more about success and failure. If you are a part of a successful film, no one says she is a bad actor. Everyone goes into a project hoping that the script is good and hopes that it transforms the same way on celluloid as well. But no one can predict how it will turn," she admits.

Tena made her Bollywood debut with Yeh Faasley, but the film failed to garner much acclaim at the box office. She was later roped in for a Hollywood project, 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'.

"Yeh Faasley was a good film on script but didn't translate so well on screen. But that is something no one can predict. It is unfortunate, though I learnt so much from the film. That is something I will always be grateful for. 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' was a phenomenal success internationally. In India, few people watched it, but loved it," she says. With 'Table No. 21', which releases on January 4 next year, Tena feels she will enter into the commercial zone.

"This is my first commercial film and it might bring the change and the popularity," she hopes.

The film also features Rajeev Khandelwal and veteran actor Paresh Rawal. "All of them perform so well with minimal preparation. If I had a high intensity scene, I used to sit in a room and wait, so that I don't lose focus. They would do it so easily. But when you act

with good actors, it makes your job easy as well. Your performance is lifted
because of their good
job," she explains.

Having a little fun

Salman Khan is known to have a little fun with his co-stars — and apparently, he doesn't mind taking digs at them on his television show either. Recently, Kareena Kapoor appeared on a show to promote a song from his film — and apparently, Salman announced that Saif Ali Khan doesn't qualify to be in the 'Khan' league. He blatantly pointed it out to Kareena Kapoor that Saif's surname is Ali Khan and not Khan.

Salman went to the extent of telling begum Bebo that she married the wrong Khan. Kareena could only smile at him.

Excited about her project

Sunny Leone managed to claw herself to fame with her Bollywood debut with Jism 2. And now, the Indo-Canadian movie star is looking forward to starting the shooting of her second film, Ragini MMS 2.

She is excited, as the preparations for the film have already begun. "Ragini MMS 2 preparations are starting and I am so excited. I can't believe that I get to shoot another movie and with a great company," Sunny tweets.

The adult film actress, who participated in Indian reality show 'Bigg Boss 5', shifted base from Los Angeles to Mumbai earlier this year. Ragini MMS 2 is the sequel to 2011 film Ragini MMS, which featured Raj Kumar Yadav and Kainaz Motivala.

A masterpiece in the making

A R Rahman's last solo piece was Vande Mataram, which released in 1997. And now, after a gap of 14 years, the Grammy award-winning composer is ready with another piece. Naturally, there is a lot of curiosity surrounding his project.

Apparently, Nita Ambani is in the process of planning a grand unveiling for the solo and all the details regarding it have been kept under wraps — in fact, its release date is yet to be announced.

It's rumoured, though, that some of the biggest names in Hollywood have been roped in for the video, which was put together with the help of teams from four countries. Given all this hype, one can only hope that Rahman's next number is a masterpiece.

Salad diet for Sonu

Actor Sonu Sood, who has a chiseled physique, has always been known to be conscious about his weight. But apparently, the actor is living on salads these days and is not very happy about it.

"Shooting bare body action sequence is so tiring. Last time had my dal-roti was 11 days back. Living on salads. Last day today. Finally (sic)," Sonu tweets.

The 39-year-old made his Bollywood debut with 'Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh' in 2002. But he was noticed as Abhishek Bachchan's brother in Mani Ratnam's Yuva, which released in 2004.
