An experience to cherish
Delhi girl Ridhima Sud makes her debut in the international film 'The Owner', that traces the journey of a backpack, which is passed on from one person to the other.
In this process, the viewers are introduced to myriad characters (including the one played by Ridhima in the Dubai leg of the film) and the film jumps from comedy to drama to horror.
Ridhima lives between Los Angeles, Mumbai, New Delhi and New York and even does art consultancy for her friends as a hobby.
During her recent trip to Los Angeles, a city she regularly visits to further her craft, Ridhima had the opportunity to meet the vivacious Trudy Styler (the wife of singer Sting) at their beautiful Malibu home.
Trudy went all out to help Ridhima get access to exclusive acting courses that would have been difficult for her to be a part of otherwise.
To top it all, Trudy helped Ridhima on a very short notice and that too a
complimentary basis.
Apparently, Ridhima was reading the book Immortals of Meluha at the time and during their conversation on India and spirituality— both strong interests of Trudy, Ridhima read out a passage from the book which resonated with the multi-faceted and enigmatic Trudy.
It's well-known how much Sting and Trudy love India. So Ridhima gave them a copy of the book with a personalised note.
Said Ridhima, "I loved meeting her. She is a gracious and warm person. She had to fly out in a few hours and in spite of the pre-flight chaos, she managed to share some of her wisdom with me. She is someone I look up to and admire a lot."
Trudy, in return, gave her a signed copy of Larry Moss' acting book which she swears by and recommends. What a wonderful experience for an actor at threshold of her first release, we must say!
All about a rock band
The first song of the film Te Amo was recorded recently in the voices of Shahid Mallya (of Mausam fame) and Pamela Jain. Abuzar is composing the
music of the film, which is being directed by Shiraz Henry.
Te Amo is being produced by Rebecca Chankija under the banner of Find Studioz. Anjaan Sagari has written the lyrics of the songs for the film which stars Pankh Anwan and Japanese actress Ayako.
Shiraz Henry has also made a movie called 'Beyond The 3rd Kind'.
Te Amo has more than ten songs and the story of the film revolves around a young rock band. It is a musical film with a dash of romance and comedy.
Pankh Anwan, who has bagged more than 22 titles in fashion contests including 'Mr Chhattisgarh 2011', 'Mr Nagpur' and 'Model of the Year — Amravati', plays the role of the lead singer in the band.
Te Amo is scheduled to be shot in exotic locations in the North East part of India like Shillong, Sikkim and Nagaland with live crowds consisting of more than 30,000 people.
'I was too wild'
Noomi Rapace, the main lead of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus', who has been receiving rave reviews for her character in the action flick, had quite an experimental and wild childhood before getting into acting.
Speaking of her tumultuous journey to stardom, the Swedish actress said, "My parents didn't want to put me in a normal school because I was so wild. I grew up in nature. I was always out playing with the horses, building and creating things." So the actress was put in a Steiner school.
She added, "Steiner schools give you a bit more freedom. It was good for me, because it's very creative, loose and playful. But I didn't really learn that much. I didn't have any books. I couldn't read or write until I was quite old and didn't learn any languages."
By the time Noomi was 14, she wasn't going to school much at all. "I was exploring and experimenting, hanging out with much older people. But they had been drinking and doing drugs for years.
Eventually, I saw that they weren't really moving in any direction, just going round and round in circles. And I hated that. I'm very restless and want to move forward. I realised that this was not fun or cool. It was quite boring. So I asked myself, 'what's my dream?' And I remembered how much I loved acting and connected back to that," said the actress of 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' fame.
The talented actress stars in 'Prometheus', along with Charlize Theron and Michal Fassbender. The movie releases in India on June8.
Collaboration of two legends
Finally, the two titans of acting, Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah, are all set to work together in a film. While they have not officially signed on the dotted line, Vivek Agnihotri is planning to bring them together in 'Twelve', his remake of Sidney Lumet's classic — '12 Angry Men'— the 1957-release which was based on a teleplay.
And that's not all. Vivek is also keen to cast, along with Om Puri, Paresh Rawal and Boman Irani, Pankaj Kapur and Annu Kapoor. "It's a brilliant story, the action of which takes place within the confines of a single room. It's a classic play and every time it's been made into a film, it has won laurels," says Vivek.
However, the director is not going to start work on the film soon. As he reveals, "In fact, I'm planning to make another script. I'll start 'Twelve' sometime at the end of this year."
A dash of humour
The first look of Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi, that has Farah Khan posing like Madhuri Dixit from the film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, has left everyone in splits. Buoyed by the positive response, the makers have revealed that the promotional campaign of the film has a lot more in store.
And Madhuri isn't the only one Farah will be impersonating, says a source. She will be stepping into the shoes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kajol as well from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge respectively.
