Kolar's sufi connection

Kolar district is known for quite a few ancient dargahs of great sufi saints. Mulbagal and Bangarpet towns, in particular, have a lot of such dargahs. Bangarpet has the popular Dargah Shariffs of Ammajan and Bawajan, while Mulbagal town has the widely revered dargah of the 12th-century sufi saint, Hazrath Baba Hyder Vali.

Hazrath Baba Hyder Auliya (Rehmutullah Aliah) Dargah of Mulbagal is reckoned to be the State's second most visited sufi saint's dargah after Khaja Bande Nawaz Dargah of Gulbarga.

The holy dargah, dedicated to Hazrath Baba Hyder Auliya, is said to be in existence since the death of Hazrath Baba at Mulbagal in the year 1269.

Also, at Mulbagal, one can spot the 750-year-old mausoleum of the saint of sufi Sharwardy order, Baba Hyder Auliya Hussaini Saharwardy.

The annual Urs and Sandal Mubarak, which are known to attract devotees of all faiths and religions from all over, is held usually in the month of June or July.

The 759th annual Urs of Hazrath Baba Hyder Auliya was celebrated six months ago.
Believed to be originally the king of Iran, Baba Hyder Auliya, having renounced worldly life, came to Mulbagal along with his disciples, at the end of his spiritual journey to spread the message of sufism.
