'Aamir brings credibility'

Film-maker Farhan Akhtar believes that super star Aamir Khan's link with a supernatural thriller like Talaash spoke volumes about the film's content.

Disproving the notion of constant rivalries between actors, he says, "It (Aamir's role) automatically speaks about the content of the film. He is someone who is known to attach himself to a film that has a serious story to tell and something new to share with people."

Aamir's screen presence, he feels, is a crowd-puller. "He is known to do that and when he attaches himself to a movie like Talaash, it automatically sends out a signal to the people that there must be something interesting going on in the movie," he adds.

Besides playing the lead as Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat, Aamir was also the co-producer of Talaash, along with Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Farhan, however, accepts that apart from Aamir's taste, his celebrity status is also a major reason why people come to watch a film.

"This is completely apart from his celebrity status. That, of course, brings a lot of people who want to watch him as fans. But also, I think, he brings in a certain credibility to a project," Farhan says. Farhan also wrote some dialogues in the film, while his sister Zoya co-wrote the story along with film's director, Reema Kagti.

Lots of roles in his kitty

Actor Sushant Singh, who will be seen in a cameo role in Yash Raj Films' Gunday, candidly admits that he signed it only for director Ali Abbas Zafar. "Ali Abbas Zafar comes to my gym regularly and he was my junior in college, so he must have seen me in the gym. My look and body impressed him and he felt that only I could fit the role that he has in his film," the 40-year-old says.

"It is a cameo — but since he is from my college and a good boy, I went up to him and heard about the role. I found it interesting; besides, people have not seen me in such a look and it is a Yash Raj film and the co-actors are also good. So, I said yes," he adds. Gunday features Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in lead roles, along with Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan.

Sushant also adds "'Hate Story 2' will go on floors in January next year. Vikram Bhatt is producing it and I am doing that. Surveen Chawla is there. Vishal (Pandya) is directing it." Sushant, who played the role of a dacoit in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Jungle', will soon be seen in Four Two Ka One too.

Caught up in the mood

Emma Fitzpatrick, who will be seen playing a pivotal role in her next upcoming psycho thriller 'The Collection', seems to be having a rough time. Apparently, during one of the shoots of the movie, the actress blacked out while enacting a scene where she trips over a bunch of dead bodies. It was the most intense scenes of the movie but the smell of latex, fake blood and dead bodies took a toll on Emma's vigour and she fainted.

The young actress says, "We had sort of built up for the scene during the day and I was mentally preparing myself. The smell of latex and fake blood really freaked me out. I am squeamish about those things. I think it was scarier being in it than watching a horror film."

The shooting was temporarily stalled and she could resume the shoot only after a few hours of break and respite.

After a tiring schedule

The London schedule for the sequel to the 2011 hit, Yamla Pagla Deewana, recently came to an end. Apparently, there are only ten days of shooting left, for which the team will go to Varanasi early next year. As of now, they plan to release the film in June 2013.

Sunny Deol says, "It's the longest schedule shot overseas for any film.
Shooting in Leicester and Birmingham was perfect. A big thanks to my cast and crew — it would have not been possible without their support. Also, all I can say is that if you liked the original, you will enjoy this one. It is a great family film and a complete entertainer."

The director of the comedy flick, Sangeeth Sivan tweets, "Its a wrap:-) d longest & toughest shoot of my career! A big thank you to the cast & crew- u guys made it poss— lucky to have Sunny Deol as the producer (sic)."

While the Deols will reprise their roles from the previous film, Neha Sharma and
Kristina Akheeva will play the female leads.

The film also features Johnny Lever, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Sucheta Khanna in pivotal roles.

Where crime reigns

Aan: Men at Work is directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and stars Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Shatrughan Sinha. It offers a peek into the crime-ridden side of Mumbai, where territories are shared by Walia, Manik Rao and Roshni — all gangsters.

Vikram, Appa and Khaled catch their henchmen and torture them — but that does not reduce the crime rate, as the main three are still roaming free. Then, DCP Hari joins the force. Watch the film to see how he handles the issue. Watch the movie on Zee Cinema at 9 pm on December 17.
