If you're around R T Nagar, have a sudden desire for some Indo-Chinese food and don't want to compromise on flavour, 'Paprika' — on KHB Road, Sultan Palya — is the place for you.
This eatery may look more like a takeaway joint than a sit-down eatery, considering its minimal space. Despite this, a huge crowd of college-goers and professionals flock here everyday.
'Paprika''s menu includes a conglomeration of items that cater to the tastes of the young and old alike. From biryanis to rolls, soups and gravy items, there's plenty here to keep foodies occupied.
The eatery is run by Radhakrishnan Mani and his wife Sanjana Mani, who is a teacher by profession. "We knew that this area had a lot of students and young people. We realised that if we targeted them, the crowd would flow in," says Radhakrishnan.
"Initially, we set up a juice counter, where there would be juices for everyone — including people who were diabetic or suffered from other ailments. But then, we slowly moved on to a better, full-fledged menu with eatables and dropped the juice format," he adds.
The noodles at this eatery are not too oily — as they often are in the City — and retain a great flavour. The schezwan fried rice is also veryauthentic and true to taste. And for those who are on the go, rolls are a good option; there are a variety of them for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
With chapatis that cost Rs five and a special fish preparation for Rs 175, the place has something for everyone.
"Anything can be customised here. We adjust the spice and the oil levels and mix things for people even if these aren't part of the menu. Some people ask for a mix of 'prawn and chicken chilli', which is normally not done — but we happily get it done for them," says Radhakrishnan.
For those who cannot eat while standing, the place offers home delivery, within a 2.5-kilometre radius on a minimum order of Rs 150. Paprika is open from 12 am to 11 pm. For details, call 8105936362.
