An evening of fine delights

An attempt was recently made to recreate the aura of France in the City — Air France organised an evening of culinary delights, which offered the attendees plenty of choices in terms of food, beverage and music as they celebrated the French festival Beaujolais Nouveau 2012.

The emphasis of the event, which was held at the Novotel Techpark, was the wine, of course — as part of the ceremony, a bottle of wine from the Beaujolais region of France was uncorked.

The entire ambiance at the event was one of luxury — guests were greeted with platters of red and white wine as well as sangria as soon as they entered.
Elaborate buffet tables were put out, with a fine selection of food.

One entire section was dedicated to the cheeses, which — being a French festival — were varied and in abundance. Classic choices like brie and herbed gouda were served with accompanying rolls and slices of bread.

In addition to this, guests could also help themselves to a selection of cold meats including turkey's breast, olives and fresh fruit.

As the guests filtered in, they could be seen indulging in pleasant conversation and helping themselves to the eats.

Many of them — including the Indian ones — greeted themselves with the traditional French bonsoir.

Fahmi Majoub, the commercial director of Air France who was present on the occasion, says, "'We're here to celebrate friendship, as well as the harvest of the 2012 Beaujolais. One of the distinct things about this wine is that it doesn't age with time — so drink it all tonight, don't leave anything!"
