'I don't want to pressurise Aarav'
Actor Akshay Kumar may be one of the biggest stars in Bollywood but that doesn't mean he wants his son, Aarav, to follow in his footsteps. The actor says he has no wish to push Aarav into filmdom and adds that he has full freedom to make his own career choices. "If he wants to become an actor, he can.
He is just 10 years old. He can become whatever he wishes to, when he grows up. He might want to become a doctor or lawyer or anything, I don't want to pressurise him at the moment," says Akshay.
He is married to actress Twinkle Khanna and the couple has two kids — Aarav and daughter Nitara, born in September. With a career spanning over two decades, the actor is looking better with each of his films.
Asked about the secret behind it, Akshay says, "I don't do anything in life other than smile. It has been proven in science and real life as well that the most important thing is to make others smile and laugh. I read and save all the jokes, which I receive on my phone. I really like it when people laugh."
Akshay made his Bollywood debut with the 1991 film Saugandh. With films like Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 making it to the Rs 100 crore-club, this year has been very successful for Akshay — but it's been an emotionally draining one as well. "First, I lost my father-in-law Rajesh Khanna, which has been the biggest loss for my family. Also, the demise of Yash Chopra ji, A K Hangal, Ashok Mehta — this has been a huge loss for the industry," he laments.
The 45-year-old, popularly known as Khiladi Kumar, is looking forward to the release of his new film, Khiladi 786. Directed by Ashish R Mohan, the film also features Asin Thottumkal. It releases on December 7.
A daring scene to shoot
Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar of Abhishek Kapoor's next flick, Kai Po Che! recently proved to be daredevils — the boys, who play lead roles in the movie, jumped off a 60-foot fort straight into the sea. Apparently, this was for a shot that wasn't initially part of the film.
Manish Hariprasad, creative director, Studios Disney UTV, says, "The jump was never planned, but when Abhishek Kapoor reached the Diu Fort, he was mesmerised by the sea. He came up with the idea of getting the actors into the water. So, we made the arrangements to shoot the scene next very day."
The boys performed the stunt without any equipment and the scene was supervised by Parvez Sheikh. Ask him about this and he says, "Abhishek Kapoor wanted the scene to look real, so using body doubles was out of the question. There was a tremendous risk involved. We had to wait for the high tide as there were boulders around the fort and doing this stunt, while the tide was out, was too dangerous and could have been life threatening."
Parvez points out that the boys were made to go through the drill to make sure that they knew their exact landing position and from where they would have to take the jump. The scene has turned out to be visually spectacular.

Working with her brother-in-law
Tanisha Mukherjee hasn't had much luck with films — so now, she is trying her hand at producing instead.
Tanisha has always had the support of her sister Kajol and brother-in-law Ajay
Devgan.
It seems that she has ventured into production and has joined Ajay Devgn Ffilms (ADF).
"I am not handling any professional commitment of Ajay's. I am working with ADF, which is our production house and yes, Son of Sardaar (SOS) was my first production experience," the 34-year-old says.
Meanwhile, Ajay is happy with the way Tanisha has grasped the work she is
handling.
"I would say she started learning and she picked it up very well and she would continue handling things," Ajay says. Tanisha made her Bollywood debut with Ssshh in 2003.
Later, she did films like Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao, 'Tango Charlie', Sarkar,
'Neal n Nikki' and 'One Two Three'.
