American alternative rock band 'Third Eye Blind' recently began a four-city tour with a mind-blowing 90-minute concert at Hard Rock Café.
Having been around for two decades, the legendary band played a memorable set of popular songs as well as a few with more modern elements.
Quite early into the show, songs like 'Can You Take Me' and 'Never Let You Go' were played, with the crowd singing along and fans screaming. "We had no idea that anybody from India has heard of 'Third Eye Blind' before.
I'm curious about what's going to happen here," laughs frontman Stephan Jenkins. The band also played songs like 'Deep Inside Of You' and 'Wounded'. The sound was quite solid, owing to the three acoustic and three electric guitars on stage along with a keyboardist, two laptops and a drummer.
At one point, the band members exited the stage, leaving Stephan to do a short, acoustic set with songs like 'Jumper' and 'Slow Motion'.
"I've come to India to find inspiration to write lyrics for our fifth album. This is our first time in Bangalore and India and all I can tell you is that we're finding it! We love the people, hospitality and just being here," he adds.
This was followed by a drum solo by Brad Hargreaves, who experimented with some heavy drum 'n' bass, a genre hard to associate with a band like 'Third Eye Blind'.
The musicians had an undeniably great stage presence throughout, be it for their cover of Calvin Harris', 'Feel So Close' or for the glow sticks thrown into the crowd in their last song, 'Semi Charmed Life'.
Tania, who was seen singing most of the songs, was visibly excited. "Today's been the best day of my year. I've grown up listening to the band and cried to so many of their songs. I still can't believe I actually saw them live," she says.
For Roshan, another concertgoer, it was an overwhelming experience. "I've always been a big fan and to watch them in my own City was really amazing," he shares.
