For a bright, funky look
If you are young, adventurous and free-spirited, then head straight to Allen Solly's 'Winter Dress Fest', which showcases the brighter side of the wearer.
Simple — and yet elegant and funky to the bone — is how the collection could be described in a nutshell. No two items have a similar cut; every piece is distinct.
The winter dresses this season feature resort-inspired exotic prints and designs. These dresses are woven and the knits are quintessentially high street.
Talking more about the collection, Vicky Bamrah, design head, Allen Solly-women's wear, observes that the current line is a big play on dresses — whether they are knit, woven, printed or plain. The line ranges from softer hues to mid-pastels and bold foliage print. "The focus is on silhouettes for varied body shapes.
This season possesses the festive distinction of blending the best of winter with the holiday season. We have a bright and colourful winter-wear line — ranging from Fair Isle sweaters with a heartland feel to engineered striped knits," says Vicky.
The clothes include some great combinations of silhouette, colour and fabric — but their unique selling proposition remains the fact that each item is easy-to-wear, upbeat and fashion-forward.
Vicky further states that a lot of time and effort goes into understanding consumer needs. "We spend time at the store and interact with the consumer — all this feedback is incorporated into the line. We have external agencies that do consumer surveys for us, which enable us to do this in a more focussed manner," notes Vicky.
Accessorising winter wear can be tricky. Vicky explains that the emerging trends this winter are both glitzy and homespun.
"Party season essentials, embellished bags, hats, gloves and jewellery with chunky knits provide everyday chic looks. Homespun winter wear has an authentic appeal. Animal prints and heritage plaid continue to reign supreme," he concludes.
