Over the years, he has lent his voice to Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil songs, and has seen many stars move to his tunes.

But for Krishna Kumar or KK, as he is more popularly known, music is about connecting with himself and the audience.

He understands the pulse of the audience and knows immediately what works and what doesn't. So one is taken aback when he says that he has no interest in composing music for Bollywood.

"I'm not cut out for composing in movies," says the singer, who has composed for his own albums.

Hence he is quick to add that while he enjoys composing for his own album, it's just the movies he wants to stay away from.

"I'm a stress-free kind of a guy and composing for movies requires a lot of time and effort. When I compose for my albums, I completely cut off everything and it's just me and my music.

That's why I can't see myself composing all the time," says KK, who was in the City recently for a concert. KK reveals that the one song that he can never go wrong with is Pyaar Ke Pal.

"There is something about this song that every time I sing it, it only gets better," he says.

As a singer, KKsays, that he has seen himself grow and mature a lot over the years.
Though he was never trained classically, he learnt by listening to the veterans in the industry.

But now he has come to realise that this god-given gift has become his responsibility.
"During my initial days, I really didn't know where I was headed. But now I have seen how much I have matured and learnt to encash on this talent in the right way. But if there is one thing that hasn't changed, it's my passion for music," he adds.

Soon, KK's son too plans to follow his father's footsteps. KK says that since his son has studied music abroad, he is more into the production side of music than singing.
So has the father given him any tips?

"He has grown up in this industry and seen the positive and negative side. So
I don't have to really give him any tips, but my support will always be there. We are planning a collaboration soon enough and I'm looking forward to that," he adds.

While one hasn't seen much of him in Kannada film industry, KKis looking forward to some interesting projects down South. And when it comes to the City, KKis all praises for it.

"I'm not just saying it because I'm here but the first time I came here, I just wanted to choose a place and settle down in Bangalore. But my manager is not allowing me to do so. But you never know, someday I would like to settle down in Bangalore," he signs off.
