No time for Sonakshi
Bollywood directors definitely know how to hold grudges. Rumours of an alleged animosity between Farah Khan and Sonakshi Sinha have been flying thick and fast — especially since the actress wasn't present to promote Shirish Kunder's last film, 'Joker', which did quite badly at the box office.
Although Sonakshi has denied these rumours, saying that she and Farah are on perfectly good terms, it seems that missing out on the promotions of 'Joker' has cost her something most heroines would give an arm and a leg for — a Shah Rukh Khan-starrer.
Apparently, Farah is so miffed with Sonakshi's "unprofessional attitude", that she has dropped the actress from the potential candidates for her film, 'Happy New Year'.
The movie, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan, has some happy stories behind it — for instance, it is claimed that Shah Rukh and Farah revived their friendship purely for this film. But on the other hand, Sonakshi's name — which was on the top of the list for the spot of leading lady — has been unceremoniously struck off.
"Farah was always fond of her. But she is miffed with the fact that Sonakshi didn't promote 'Joker' the way she should have. As things stand now, she is no longer in the consideration list for 'Happy New Year'," says an
insider.

An expensive actor indeed
Bollywood stars are notorious for quoting jaw-dropping compensation figures for their time — and the person who knows this best is probably Hrithik Roshan, who is no stranger to hiking his fee.
He's done it again recently, for the second time in six years, and this time the jump is as much as 50 per cent. In 2006, the actor had pushed up his fee by about 21 per cent — but now, he feels he's due a lot more.
The actor has reportedly charged Fox Star Studios a whopping Rs 30 crore for their next production venture — the remake official remake of the Hollywood hit 'Knight and Day', which starred Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. While the project is no doubt a large one, it remains to be seen whether Hrithik's fee is justified.
'I'm busy with my studies'
Teen actor Darsheel Safary, who has managed to snag a role in Canada-based film-maker Deepa Mehta's 'Midnight's Children', is deeply excited about it — because, for the first time, he is doing a film of this kind.
A big-screen adaptation of Salman Rushdie's bestseller of the same name, 'Midnight's Children' boasts of a cast filled with well-known names likes Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Bose and Soha Ali Khan.
"I have shot for Deepa Mehta's film 'Midnight's Children'. It should release by the end of this year. I am very, very excited about my character because this is the first time I am doing a film of this kind," the 16-year-old gushes. The youngster, who made it big with his debut movie Taare Zameen Par, is right now focussing on his studies. Talking about his academics and work schedule, Darsheel explains, "I am busy with my studies right now. But whenever something comes up, my parents decide (whether I should go for it).
That is when I am free." Recently, Darsheel participated in the fifth season of dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
Bonding on the silver screen
Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham stunned audiences with their striking chemistry in Dostana and did quite well when sharing screen space for Dhoom as well. And now, it seems that the duo will once again come together for a film — the remake of the Tamil hit, Vettai. Given that they're quite a bankable pair and that the audience likes to see them sharing space on screen, it's no surprise that they are being considered for the film.
Vettai, which was directed by N Lingusaami, starred R Madhavan and Arya. It was a sensational hit and obviously, Bollywood decided to remake it. Abbas-Mustan will replace Lingusaami in the director's seat.
Bringing fashion to a film
These days, fashion designers have a huge part to play in the making of the film. Manish Malhotra, for instance, created as many as 100 costumes for Kareena Kapoor in 'Heroine' at a whopping budget of over Rs one crore.
And that isn't all — designers have to give it their all to meet the demands of the script, something which Raghavendra Rathore understood when he was styling Lord Krishna in 'Oh My God'. "It was a fantastic experience. To bring the director's vision to life with the heroine's style statements was not an easy job," says Manish, talking about the experience of styling Kareena.
Raghavendra Rathore agrees, saying, "It was like a call from heaven." Rathore spent months researching the idea of god through clothes. "It was a journey from dreamy imagination to a practical pinning down of the idea. Once I knew that there was a special motorcycle that Kumar would ride in the film, I figured that the garments needed to be practically appropriate," he explains. The accessories like the peacock brooch and keychain also played a vital role in instilling the character of Krishna.
As noted fashion designer Rocky S concludes, "The overall sense of dressing in films has changed drastically because the newer breed of actors and actresses are fully aware of the latest trends and happenings around the world."
